hey guys and gals, I'm faced with a dilema, well 2 actually the first: what colour should i paint my ke70? my thinking black gloss yellow (canaryish) new ford green (Envi) new ford blue (Blueprint) bright orange silver gun metal grey a mediumish purple navy blue can i have hands or suggestions pls people.... and my other dilema is wether or not to try and put on the chrome bumpers from a T-18 is that a wise move? thanks in advance for you input later.

anyone ever thougt about a pod air-filter onto a 4k-c? like it would need some sort of fabrication to the pipe that connect around the carby(cus of bonnet and it being down draught carby) then just run the pipe down near the ground or behind headlight to a fat pod and wallaa! what u think? Carl :D

It sorta sounds like a lifter rattle, but apparently these engines don't use lifters, they use shims? are the rockers adjustable? any help would be appreciated. Mick.

Hi! I'm Rene and I come from the Philippines. Bought a Toyota 3A-U engine and installed it in a 4WD Suzuki Beaver. Had the engine overhauled but forgot to take note of the hose layout (think pneumatic hoses that connects to the carb and manifolds). Now, after being overhauled and the engine runs worse. Can anybody help me by emailing or posting a diagram of the hose layout. My engine is not fuel injected. Thanks a lot!

So i finally got around to putting the 5K back into my '74 ke30 today. When i was about to crank it over to get the oil pressure up, i realised the oil pressure light was not on. So i changed bulbs and holders.........still no good. I have changed complete dash clusters.......still no good. I have tested the wire that runs from the oil pressure sensor, to the plug on the back of the dash and it seems to be fine (the wire is intact in other words). I have swapped oil pressure sensors, but that didnt help. I had a test light on the back of the dash and i seem to be getting power to where the bulb plugs in (although i used the door handle as an earth). If i use …

Hi Just bought an Ae71 and i was trying to install my old neons via the cigarette lighter light, the little one that comes on with the parkers and headlights while doing this i heard a sizzle and tryed the parker lights and they stopped working along with the dash lights? I called out the RAA and the told me there was no power getting to the dimmer switch which could mean an open circuit any way has this happend to anyone or know how to fix it my mate also has a ke30 with the same problem but we can't figure it out Cheers for any help Stuart

Hi all just finished converting my 5k motor from twin down draught webers to twin 40dcoe webers on my ke20. Just want to know what most people do for air filter setup, due to lack of room. I have bought a pair of filter socks in the smallest size but they seem to be to long, i am thinking about cuttting them in half to fit without being squashed up. also what do people do to support the webers and manifold because of the weight of the carbies. g'day guys, i am just about to start porting my 3tc head just finished striping it and now its sitting in degreaser, it will be off for 2tg size valves once ported but i realy need to know how far i can port it without going into the water jackets, also at school I'm starting to make a efi manifold for my 3tc, i will be using 3s*e manifold/plenum bits, things i need to remember are, holes for the brake booster holes for injectors what else will i have to work out?, I'm having abit of a late night memory lapse any and all help woll be greatly appreciated

Heya people, I have been bogging rust on my KE70 all weekend. Iv done most of it, but there's a few Gaping holes that i can't fill with bog :no2: And iv been meaning to get a welder for a while now... so What type should i get and is there a size that i should look for? What type do you need for body work? And what type do you need for say.. welding a diff or making engine mounts ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: Looking for something cheapish... I don't have loads of cash.

-Ok the facts The engine is a 5k put in by previous owner . I know it has at least a lumpy cam in it but can't tell you anything else . lately at high revs.... or when shes warm.... she ticks unfortunately my stereo isnt all that great so i can't turn it up loud enough to drown the noise Is there a quick fix or is it a little more serious ? thanks LAUREN

G'day Guys Having some problems with a few things, i require a set of push rods to suit a solid cam overhead rocker assembly, to measure upto around 190 to 200mm. - Basically the same style as that of an old 4K. If anyone knows of any pushrods around this length, i would be reallllly interested to hear from you, as ill get onto hunting a set down. No offtopic please :dance: Cheers :dance: T

hey guys i just put extractors on my 4k motor and it is not running right in high revs its great but down low its shit house of course there are some hoses that don't connect buck up to anything when you put extractors on but what hoses do need to be connected still and which ones can i get rid off just want to make it run right thanks guys its working now :D :fuzz:

Hey guys, Alec here, been around here a little bit and now i need some help please! I have 3 Ke70s here and a spare engine, one a daily and two parts cars (all 4K-Cs). I want to send one of the heads off to get it machined and new seals and stuff. SO, when i bought one of the cars i got a spare engine with it, i pulled the head off it and the coolant inlet thing (don't know what its called) looked like this so i thought, oh god, its rooted. So i disregarded it and it sat it in the corner. then i went out to my first spare parts car and pulled the head off (i drove this car back from Cairns, so i thought it'd be all good) and the inlet thingy…

So the placard in my corolla says that my tyres should be at 24 psi but when they're there they seem too low. I have the original stock wheels on. What is the best pressure to have them at?

Ok as the title says I have a 5k newly recon motor in the KE70. Current mods: extractors, 36/32 carbie, 5 speed box and exhaust system I'm hoping the get more power out of my car but to also learn more about my car and cars in general. I've read the how to build a tuff k motor and it goes in to great detail of the amounts of possibilities I have to which I can do. G'day :yes: I have a few problems with my ae82 sedan with the steering. I chucked a 4age in my car and now i have really bad torque steer, I don't have power steering but i can sorta manage to control the torque steer but I have another problem... When ever I go over a dip in the road or a small bump the steering seems to have a life of its own and wants to either go left or right. What was really scary was the other night, it was a really wet dark road and pissing down rain (first time i drove in the rain with the sedan). As I'm driving along, every time i hit a small puddle the car wanted to turn. It took all my effort just to keep the car in a straight line.…

Hey Guys, Got a little question regarding the plugs on a 4A wiring loom. Basically I know that there are the 'square' and 'round' types, but I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction regarding how/where I would go about buying some replacement plugs. :blinks: Have mainly 'round' sensors on my new engine, including the injectors, so wanted to track down some new plugs to swap from the 'square' type to 'round' on the wiring loom. Or, Would I just be better off selling the loom I have, and just trying (again) to find a complete Smallport loom with the 'round' plugs? My ke35 corolla has developed a unusual screeching/squeel noise, its running gear consists of a 4age smallport,and later model adm t50 gearbox. Went into a workshop to get rear main seal replaced due to oil leak, while there got the stock flywheel slightly lightened/balanced and new stock pbr clutch kit installed as my clutch was on its last legs. Pretty much from the get go 15 mins driving home i noticed a squeel when not in gear just idle, doesnt go away if i press clutch in or release.. however its seems to disapear be alot less when in gear moving...also when getting moving when put in first and release clutch to engage gear i can hear light clunk noise the…

I have just recently bought a 4age manual out of a (jap spec).. ae82 (1982) red top. big port and was fwd. but when I bought it, I didn't get an ecu or a dizzy. as it was from a wreckers. I went out not knowing this and bought an ecu for an ae92... and a dizzy to suit that same model. dam... :down: did not fit. so my question is. what ecu can I get for this piece of, lovely goodness engine I have taking up space at work. hahaha I have thought after market but even then I'm not sure cause there is so many to choose from. any help would much greatly appreciated!!…

I am currently running a 2 inch su of a rover that i hae fully rebuilt to go on my supercharged 4k. The setup as it currently sits is.. 2 inch SU carby SC12 toyota supercharger locked electronic dizzy basically stock internals apart from full rebuild with a cam and double valve springs Now the problem that i have is the piston in the SU will not open up enough to allow more fuel to pass into the carby. I have replaced the needle in the carby with one which i bought from a carby specialist who has tuned a couple of similar setups on corolla's and datsun's. Ok guys, trying to find a mirror that would look good on my ke70 and can't find anything that i like, so i have decided to run the standard door one that comes on the 83, but i really want a left hand side one too, because as you might know they don't come out with one. So i figured i could try and get one off a left hand drive one but i can't find any at all. Could someone please help me out if they have one or know where to get one from, even a suggestion of different type mirrors that i could run keeping i mind i don't like round ones :) Cheers :D :y:

alright. this is anoying the hell out of me. every one is saying that the ajps springs i want to get are going to be "too low" and that it will be illegal... the height will be, fronts 200mm and rears are 230mm I'm aware i will need short shocks other wise it would be like haveing no suspention "apparently" :angrybird: so my question is. if i put those springs in will it be illegal in QLD. the back will look like the attatched picture.. all you guys have helped me out heaps in the past so right now would be awesome. I recently bought my first corolla a ke 30, I put in a 18rgu I had lying around in it, its just a paddock bomb but my friends and I take it pretty seriously. I have never worked with these corollas and I was hoping for some cheap ideas to upgrade the front suspension as the 18rgu is a lot heavier. Can I just fit some later model struts if so what fits easily Also some ideas on how to get some camber As I said it is only a paddock bomb so I want to spend as little money as possible

Need to know (if you do that is) what size jets people have in these when on a mild 4k. The secondaries on mine feel good, but the idle the power transition is way the rich, and it is doughy as hell until it hits about 2500 rpm. Long shot I think, but you never know... I know Nick has one of these for his KE70, is it on there yet??

A little while ago we had a discussion about replacing throttle cables with bike ones: Do you buy just the cable, or the cable and the sheath? If you just buy the cable, how do you thread it through the original sheath? Or, if you buy the sheath as well, how do you replicate the throttle body end that has the 2 locking nuts? Any pics? Needing some inspiration here... :D

does anyone know a place that will recalibrate a mechanical speedometer? i'm wanting to go from 195/82/14 to 235/45/17 or 235/40/18 on my hilux, but i don't want the speedo to be out
