Hi! My Name is Chris and I live in Austria. I am addicted to oldschool Toyotas and my pride is my 84 MA61 Celica Supra (which is one month younger than me): I have spent last year a lot of money to let other people restore it, but I am not really happy with the result, so I want to do it myself next time. Before I start that, I want to learn how to do all the work on another, more simple car. This is why I bought a KE70, and here it is (pictures are not from me, will be updated as soon as I pick it up): Of course It has a lot of bad bits, this is why I have bought it. The worst is: As far as I have seen yet the liftbacks are no…

Hi, I got given a couple of ke20's, and bought smallport 4age, 22 spline t50, custom tailshaft, custom headers and 2 core radiator for $1500 to go in since my mate is changing to a 4AGTE. my mate has made me engine mounts to suit as well as welding the stocker diff mounts onto a ke55 diff. will probably go haltech e6x computer like everyone else. i have started plumbing in new brake lines (my mate lent me the tool for that but they are only $65 anyways). I put a r…

Ok guys i have been lurking here for a little while waiting to buy a car. Well last weekend i picked up a 1969 KE10B which was advertised on this forum. Reading through here a bit i see its advised to intro yourself and throw up some pictures of your car, so here they are. I bought the car with the intentions of painting it, putting in a new interior and using it as a daily driver. The car is already fitted with a 4k and 4 speed, so i'll be looking out for a 5 speed soon. Other than the KE10 i own an 89 celsior fitted with 20's and an aftermarket air bag controller and tank. Hopefully i'll be able to get plenty of info from here for my build up and maintenance....[att…

1970 Toyota KE20 Corolla Brought this as a daily run-a-round back at the start of 2009 original 3k 4spd etc. Fixed what needed to be done at the time an drove it for a good 4-6mnths as my daily. Until the exhaust manifold gaveup yet again so i decided to do the KIWI thing an "chuck a rota in it au" Sourced a 12a 6port block from a cosmo, with 4barrel cabbie jetted for a bridgeport, & extractors brought a complete RX7 s1 for the g/box, driveshaft, wiring bits, radiator, coolers etc (basicly the whole package bar the motor) Stript the KE20 engine bay down, welded in the mounts, made the adjustments for the booster. Test fitted a dummy block/gbox in there. got it…

hey all as you can see i'm new here Didnt think i'd make it to joining this forum but yeah it all started when a mate at tafe shows me a pic of a corolla that looks in pretty good nick. I offer him $500 for it, just mucking around, and he goes ill talk to his dad and sure enough he sez ok, next wed I'm now picking up a ke50 only to find out they're a fairly rare model for its time, not entirely sure on proper condition but ive been told theres no rust or dents, the paints pretty good still and the interior is still fairly good. Its packing a rebuilt 1200cc of toyota fury and shifted by a nice 5 speed to a welded diff, she's white with tinted windows and half the exhaus…

Hi, I'm James and this is my 82 Ke70 I bought the car about 2 years ago for the handsome some of $300, minus engine and gerabox. Since then i have spent countless hours and dollars on it. Hey guys, my name's Alec, i've been around here for a while wheeling and dealing but i thought i'd make a thread for my beloved KE70 "Kaye" Long story short: It was early 2008 and i was residing in North Queensland as a uni student and had no car to get around in. I spotted on the side of the road one day a baby blue KE70, I'd always been a huge AE86 fan and the keto caught my eye. So I called up the number and the guy came out to show me the car. The asking price was $2600. It was a 4 speed CS KE70 with some fairly decent rust but it ran. I ended up haggling the guy down to $1000, cash in hand and drove her home. Unfortunately i didn't take too many pictures in…

Here's my story. I bought this one owner, high mileage 7AFE 5spd AE102 wagon back in Oct 2008 with plans of doing a swap but not the typical 4AG (ZE/20v) swap. It's my grocery getter / daily driver so my choice of engine would have to provide good low end torque without boost & have balls for passing as necessary. The only engine that met my needs in a FWD application was a redtop BEAMS (197hp / 152tq) from a 1998+ Toyota Celica SIII ST202. The engine was purchased in Mar 2009 from JDMSource out of Calgary, AB. The swap was done in Apr 2009 entirely by my good friend Adam from AMT Machine Shop which took a total of 9 business days! The rest shall we say is history…

Okay so I bought a 3.8 v6 with computer and loom for the rolla at the start of February. So plans for it so far are as follows: Probably a welded diff under it, until i find a reasonably cheap alternative. (won't be road registered) Seam weld areas under most stress. Might have a crack at making up some bracing for front end, behind front guards. Take interia out except for front seats until I get sone racing seats and harnesses. Most likely have to shorten the tailshaft. Things i have done so far: - Cut the mounts off Corolla cross member. - Taken exhaust manifolds off to be modified. - Cleaned engine, free of oil, grime, dust…

Hey all. My name's evan and ive been on here a little while as i used to have a KE55 sedan. Sold it some time ago so haven't been real active on the forum. Anyway, just today i went and had a look at a 1977 KE36 wagon. Loved it inside and out (even the poo brown paint) and put a deposit on it. So, will be picking it up on monday. Not real sure where i'll go with this project but initially i want a cool daily cruiser. Got some sound gear to go in and will prolly get some 16's on it soon. So, if anyone has any ideas on where i should go from here, or what i should put on/in the rolla, it will be much appreciated. Cheers all. Ev.

Hey guys, so a little bit bout me, ive loved modding cars & never kept anything stock in my life, I'm slightly technical minded but havent at that much experience on the mechanics side of things which I'm really keen to learn bout & i think this KE70 will help me with ;).. My daily/streeter has been a swift sport for the last yr & now ive pretty much got my swift to where I'm happy with it so ive moved onto a new project & to start getting myself into drifting.. So i went out & started looking for something cheap, something with easy parts & cheap parts to get, obviously something rwd & something with potential.. So while i was looking on forum…

I got this KE55 from my brother, he has had it in his farm shed for 8 years west of Gympie in Qld. A mate of ours overheated it driving out ther 8 years ago and left it there. My bro rebuilt the 4K with new pistons and the usual stuff. It's been run but not driven. So he started the body work and lost interest and it sat half rubbed back since. I finally bullied him into relinquishing it to me to make into a hillclimber and new home for an SXE10 Beams 3sge and 6MT that I had. As "purchased". The new engine with a 1UZ throttle body adapted to remove the stupid half drive by wire setup. We decided to get the panel work done first and re…

Hey, I'm from North Carolina, just picked up a 1983 wagon and I'm ready to start work on it. I am a bit confused about the suspension on these cars as far as interchangeability goes. The rear is leaf spring, but is the front the same as all e70's? I'm still confused by all the chassis designations. It seems people like to run ae86 coilovers up front, what all parts do I need for this conversion? Mainly just wondering what springs/shocks I can use really for a budget setup in the front, thanks. I'll get some pictures soon

G'day guys my name is Tom, I am from SA. I am 15 and a half and got my first car yesterday. Its a 1982 corolla luxury edition. Air con, 5 speed manual etc. The lady (60) who i bought it off had almost everything replaced on it so it was all smick. She drove it around the corner to her work and back everyday. If anyone wants to donate a nice set of rims that would be muchly appreciated! :) :P :y: Now I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Hey guys I was driving home from uni last night in my ke70 with 4k and I noticed my oil light was on and my oil pressure was at zero, as my revs rose I could hear a loud tapping/rattling noise from my engine, and a strong smell, I went to the servo and bought some oil, when I opened my bonnet i could see white smoke puffing out of the breather, and also when i opened the cap there was white smoke coming out, i filled it with oil although it was dripping out from somewhere on the inlet side, ive taken a look and think it might be the head gasket, what else could it be? the coolant looks darkish like a black colour, if it was a head gasket would it be making that loud …

hey guys, very new to the whole corolla scene... i went and bought my first corolla 2 weeks ago, a 1982 ke70 in half decent condition  so just thought i would post it up on here to keep track on my progress, and to get some tips and feedback on the project i can't say for sure what exactly i want to do with the car in the futurem whether or not to drift, or daily....all i can say for sure is that i want it to be a nice looking car, that has that jdm look about it. so when i picked the car up it was missing a back seat, roof lining, and carpet however it did have a locked diff...which is a whole new experience for me, having only ever driven front wheel d…

For pics, see my photo blog: Sloth's AE86 And pics of my two girls: AE86 vs KE55 The Story so far: My first car was a KE35 rolla (it was actually my step-dads but I basically inherited it). Me and my dad started doing a bit of work on it, but ended up buying a KE55 and working on that instead. (I've told this story many times before, so I'll skip ahead). 3 years and a couple of dollars later the KE55 was sprayed blue with white stripes, had new car, a new dash, momo wheel, sparco fixed back seat and had a 7k that had been rebuilt (and improved) with a 5 speed box. It only puts out 56rwkw, but it's a fun car too drive (sometimes too fun). She's started to …

I'm going to start a build thread. This will be a ongoing restoration, and modification build. Let's get started. I bought this car 6/30/2010. I gave $400.00 American for it. I drove it a hour and a half home with zero issues. It ha d been sitting a while. Rotten 13'' tires, exhaust leaks, you name it. I had been looking for a Corolla for a while now, and it looks pretty cute next to my Supras. The morning after I bought it, I tore into it. I have 18 Ma61 rims, so I put a nice set on it. I had to roll the fenders, because I pretty much ate the tires off of the first set of rims I put on the back. They didn't look like they were that close to th…
