I've decided to make a build thread for my corolla and introduce myself now that it is finally getting rego 2 months after its purchase. My name is Luke, I'm starting uni at UTS studying mechanical and this is my Ke70 and our story. I bought the Ke before i sold my 2002 Mazda 323 and after the first week and only week of driving it i wasn't sure whether to keep it. Moving from having a newish car I wasn't used to the idea that rust, rips, tears panel damage and a heater stuck on hot in summer were normal. In the last two months of preparing for blue slip (car was vic rego'd) and watching the car move towards a "stock-ish" appearance I have decided i love it and want t…

Hey all, Just thought i'd share my daily driver/Project Car. Its a 1998 Toyota Caldina ST215 1998 Toyota Caldina GT-T 17x7 +38 A-Tech rims, Blitz cat-back exhaust Apexi N1 ATS silencer Blitz DSBC spec R Blitz radiator cap Blitz boost gauge Largus Coilovers Brakes EBC Greenstuff All Round It needs a few things done: Fix the sunroof The sunroof isn't working at the moment. I've noticed that buttons to open the sunroof seem to work for a very short moment (was too scared to open it anymore) but to try and close the sunroof, neither close button did anything. I was going to take the interior cover of the buttons off and clean all the contacts. I'm…

Hi guys. I'm new here so if it any rookie mistake please let it go. I'm a big big fan of Jap and Aussie old school. Maybe seen too many of them at Calder Park when I was a little younger. And guess what? I finally own one. I picked up this little KE from a mate's brother. It comes with a very healthy 5k, 5 speed. Plans are: - Change the color to dark cherry red - A set of old school wheel with white wall - Change the interior - Fix up bit and pieces.

Hello boys and girls, So about a month ago (Late January!) I picked up two KE70s for a bargain 700 bucks! Unbelieveable! One auto, which I simply spent minimal change and cleaned up and use as a run around, the second: A 5 speed manual, blue, and might I add rare "XX" model which includes a boot and petrol flap release catch under the drivers seat, a taco dash, and velour interior! Wow how modern haha! I was stoaked. It had done under 180,000 and has been sitting since 2007. I later found out it CAN be registered! Woo! However, no where near roadworthy. So I've sunk my teeth into it and plan to focus purely on cosmetics and not bother with molestoring the runn…

Hey guys after staking out the forums for the last couple of months and drooling over some of these ke70's and the likes I've decided to dip into the scene and buy my own. I picked it up over the weekend, just your regular 84' with the standard 4k and 5 speed box. (The colour is a lot more cream than white) It runs like an absolute dream with only one small bit of rust just above the rear bumper. The engine will be kept maintained and stock for the time being until my current plans are out of the way, any ideas are welcome seeing as this is my first real attempt at making a car my own. :) The upholstery will need a fair bit of TLC as it is filled with fun …

I promised myself that I wouldn't spend more time & money than I had to on my AE80 hatch. Known as Blue Thing, she was intended to get me from A to B while my Twin Cam build was going on. Long story short, things have changed a fair bit & while updates regarding BT were included in my Project Car thread, I think it's hit the point where it needs it's own. At the Picnic at Hanging Rock Car Show in mid-February. For a bit of information & back-story, click these links: Page 1 Page 14 Page 16 Page 19 Page 26 Page 29 In a nutshell, this car was as base model as you can get. How's it going been looking for a few on 3tc/te72 corolla info seems this site is pretty good. I do a lot of my own work so some is good and some is to make it work. The car is a work in progress as it is my daily driver too. The car is a 1981 corolla lift back 1.8 stock, have header and new exhaust to put on other then that it will be stock. Aftermarket air filter to get rid of the big old blue one. The front lip is from a 1990 ford ranger. I am on a budget for buying stuff so don't bash too hard. Here is the back of the car with the old wheels

so were to start. i got this ke70 for straight swaps for my fully sick minitruck.... (it was not full sick) that is the 1st day i got the car so is this one fit a ae86 notchback boot lip, don't worry the mounts were all stuffed so didnt wreck it. how the motor looked when i got it, talk about proplems on how it was put together. the manifold had 3 of the 9 bolts holding it on. so once i had realised how much was done wrong in the car i made my mind up i was goin to strip the whole car and fix it all. started with a new bigport head that came with the car then it was time to try get it running, spend about 6 weeks tracing wires b…

Needed a daily so got myself a slanty KE70. Wanted a KE30 but someone beat me to it. -.- Found this rig owned by a 24 year old female, whose grandparents had owned it before her. The car had been named 'Carol'. It's got a bit of rust in the normal spots, paint fade all over it and a few love bumps. But it has working aircon! It's a 4 speed, 4k hicam, if that means anything haha. Interior is crap, tan colour with the original AM/FM radio which barely works. The engine has only just been run in with only 278,000KM on the clock; original engine and everything :D The car is completely stock, with the only additions being a pair of faded tan seat covers and aftermarke…

When I was 17, I bought this as my first car. Paid $600 for it from a mate, spent alot of time and money getting her roadworthy and it was my daily for just over a year until I snapped a valve spring. I replaced the offending spring, but in the process, I discovered that the entire engine is full of crap. No idea how it was still running. It lasted a couple weeks after that until I snapped another spring. Couldn't find a full set of springs at any wreckers so I gave up and parked her in a shed. Engine still starts and it can be driven on and off of a trailer, but I really don't think the engine is worth saving. Running stock 1.5L 2R with 4speed. Drums all round needi…

Hey all, I've just joined this site, looks really nice! I have to say this little restoration is nothing compared to some of the amazing work you've all put in to your rollas!! Also I can't say i'm worthy compared to the awesome RWD beauts too! So the story to me picking this sad look car up is I used to have a black AE92 with the 2nd gen 4AGE tvis, unfortunately I didn't have the time, space, money or guts to get that one sorted. So without realising how ridiculously rare these were getting in the UK I sold it on to find out it was scrapped. Sooooo after getting married in July last year I asked the new wife if I could go out and buy this 'clean' looking coro…

Hello everyone, I have considered making a build thread of some sort for a while and I think it's about time I at least put a photo or two up of my Corolla. This Corolla is different to the Aussie delivered KE30 and it has the Japanese styled diff, tailshaft, brakes, brake booster and dash. My goal with this car is to keep the styling period correct and for it to be a lot of fun to drive. A lot of influence for modifications are also from my brothers RT104 Corona 'Grumpy'. Modifications: 3k head 4k block K50 Gearbox (KE70 variant) Single 40mm DCOE Weber Redline Webber manifold Hurricane 4-1 2 inch extractors 2-inch full exhaust 3-inch dump tip 7kg AJPS…

hey guys, I'm new here, and mainly here for help, on the weekend past some little person who if I ever found will wish death on themselves stole my 1970 rt80 corona, she was immaculate and I had just gotten her on the road, Good news I guess is that I got her back, ditched, with all door and boot locks smashed in, radio broken, wrong fuel put in (thanks jerk) and decided to not learn to drive before stealing, as they smashed into something destroying two ssr mesh rims and my front frill, bumper, lights ect, I have attached a pic of how she sits now. I'm asking if anyone can help with spares for this or know anyone boasting about taking one for a joyride this weekend? tha…

Hi guys, so far I'm new to this whole concept of the classic box cars..Sorry for the mistake if I'm doing the topic wrong. My dad used to have a Ke70 when I was a child, grew up in one for a couple years but he couldn't keep it. After I became aware of this cars are really hard to find. I finally had to money to buy one and find one in good decent shape. I want to this project since my dad is getting old, want to make a car in honor of him. I'm from Vancouver B.C canada and can't wait to learn from you previous members... 1981 Corolla 1.8 184,000KM Everything Stock,

Hi, I’ve been a forum lurker for years now and finally thought it was time to put up my build thread :) Expect it to be VERY long, sorry :P First a bit about me. My name is Marcus and I’m 17. I’ve been hooked on cars my entire life, it’s so true my first words were brooom broom, haha. At 12 my Dad bought me a 1981 ke70 from my step cousin. It sat in the backyard for 9 months and we never did any motorkhana’s like was ment so one night me and my mate snuck it out and went for joyride, 5 hours of fun ultimately due to some crappy circumstances and probably karma ended with this…. Needless to say it never drove again. But I'd got the ke70 bug, and even when a…

Hey guys this is my Ae92, Its 3/4 Finished now, I'll throw some pics up and story from then till now. Basically, it was my Ex Gf's Mums car, She owned it from new, It was then passed onto my Ex when she got her P's, She got a new car, I took owner ship of it, Wanted something cheap to run and maintain as a daily. Its had a reasonable life, Owned by 2 mechanics now. The Ex neglected it a bit, but considering its got over 360,000 on it and is still going strong, I can't complain. I think since I've owned it I would have spent maz $1200 getting it to the stage its at now, Still have a reasonable list of things to go to 'finish' it. All the work has been done by myself, or he…

Hey all, this is my Ke26 panel-van as I got it, My plans are to run a 4age setup with a T series driveline, ae86 coilovers, IRS conversion. The whole idea behind this build is to be able to drive it to the track, race it and drive it home. Planning on fabricating some bracing throughout the body as she is a loose old girl. This is my first progress post, almost finished stripping the car, already started ordering parts for the 4age conversion ( Jordanrolla 4age kit ) TE27 steering arms for ae86 suspension, all new bolts, ke27 front grille and bezels

Decided to restore a Ke 55 from the ground up and customise it along the way. I've been sitting on this project for a year now. I purchased a 79 in typical fashion, bogged like pork dressed as lamb. She came with a five speed and an engine dumped in the bay. Her black interior was completely removed and stored in the cab along with a spare manifold, radiator and all the bits and bobs you want. While her dash is seamless the rear arches and the usual suspects in bottom corners of the rear glass are present along with the expected rust in the front quarters and a kilo of dirt under each of them.

This is my ke10 I picked up today, a lady from the high school I went to got in contact with me (now I'm 18 and finished school) and offered me the car, she noticed the love I had for cars back in high school and when she thought about getting rid of this "old car taking up space on her farm " she thought of me, all she could tell me over the phone was it was a one of the first Toyotas off the production line, I went and checked it out and when I saw it was a ke10 I was very keen, she offered it to me late last year but its taken me till now to pick it up ( trying to find time amongst finishing other projects and work), the body if fairly straight just a few dints, front …

G'Day all, So I have had this Ke38 wagos for 2 years now, and I have had it as a fantastic daily for the majority of that time. The mods only consisted of a 2" straight through exhaust and headers, reset leafs, king springs, monroe shocks and a screaming gilmer drive. It sat on glossy 15" silhouette steelies at the back with white lettering on the tyres and fresh black "front runner" ke stockies. looked and sound ridiculous and people would never want to race at the lights haha. It has been off the road for a few months now and so far I have taken the whole driveline out, put a whole hilux rear axle in, drum to drum, which was purchased previously modified to …

Hey guys, it's been a few years since iv been on here. I sold my last ke70 about a year and a half ago and bought a r31 skyline. It was a great car but I got over the bigness of it and there's wasn't much else to do to it once I had finished with it. I sold it and started looking for a ke70. I was going to do a black top 4age conversion. I kept looking for sometime but couldn't find the right one, until a ae71 popped up. I went and had a look at it and was immaculate except for the rear guards and abit of rust around the boot seal. It had no rego and needed a blue slip. He wanted 2500 for it but got him down to $2100. I was pretty happy with the price concidering if I bou…

Hi everyone! My name is Jose Garro, and I'm from Costa Rica, Central America. Last year, I bought a 1974 KE20 from a friend's uncle. In general, the car is in a very solid state, and because of previous modifications, has good potencial as a project. It has a 5k engine, a 5 speed T50 tranny, and a OEM brake booster (I believe from a newer Corolla or Starlet). The previous owner put in a set of wide 12" wheels, with low profile tires, and because the bad roads we have in Costa Rica, the suspension (bushings, dampers) and the underbody was in a very bad condition. Also, all the body rubber is, literally speaking, toasted, and the rust problems tipical of this Corollas are p…

Hey guys, new at this but I've owned many rollas! I've brought a ke30 ($250). overrated inside and exterior was crappy! Was thinking about making it into a rolladore burnout car but instead desided to make it more of a track car.. This car is a very low budget as I'm no rich kid and I have a 5ltr statesman to run everyday. Pics to come when I figure out how. Cheers Luke

After owning my white 4age ae82 and loving it , I sold it for the same amount I bought my new Red Lebo spec 4agze ae82 (2500). I had previously raced my white one around Barbagello and was 6-8 seconds off the Wrx's and Evo's, I wasnt loosing that much time in the corners even tho I didnt have semi slicks and was suffering badly from body roll ( kingsprings ) , on the straights however is where is was losing huge chunk of time. So hopefully this will counter some time lost on the straights and when coilovers, sway bars go in will be quicker in the corners. Starting to slowly un-leb it Intercooler went black for my stealth New Oz-racing wheels …
