Ok, I'm aware some people wont like this. I'm aware dept of transport also wouldnt like this.... But I'm interested anyway. Early 3rz's ran a distributor of sorts, i believe the later ones still have the hole in the head for the dizzy, just blanked off. I'm just wondering whether it would be a massive backwards step performance wise to convert an efi 3rz to carb and dizzy. My reasons are simple, I just really like webers/dellortos :) . They sound hot! By my way of thinking an efi 3rz is a 2.7L four which makes about 150hp (flywheel) at 4500-5000ish rpm. Lots of 2L 4 cyls can make that at high rpm with webers, so I'm guessing the carbs wouldnt know if they happen to b…

Hi all, I'm bit of a foreigner here as I don't own any corolla but I have a 1978 ms85 Toyota crown that I just put a 5mge in to. Everything has been working great since I put the 5mge in until I hooked up the oil pressure light and a gauge. The car has a Brand New (old stock) Aisin 4m oil pump (to suit my old 4m mid sump) which I installed to the 5mge and a large capacity K&N oil filter. I put 10w30 oil in it, I would start the car and it would be about 25psi at idle, then as the temperature of the car increases it would drop slowly down, then at about operating temp it drops down to 3-5 psi and after a while of driving the oil pressure light comes on. …

Obscure post of the month If you have bought a 3 Gauge TE27 centre cluster to retrofit into your KE2x and need the plug, it is identical to that found in the dash wiring of a 1975 MS85 Crown. I realise MS85's don't exactly grow on trees, but neither do TE27's

Hey guys, I'm currently working on replacing the steering rack in my ae71, and ive quickly found out that 3 of the 4 bolts holding the steering rack (and bushings) in place are a real pain in the ass, especially with limited tools. The rachet fouls on almost everything. How was your experience with it? If you guys have done it, did you remove the starter? Did it involve alot of swearing and patience? Let me know how you guys have gone about it. Also if theres a topic posted elsewhere similar to this please let me know. Cheers

Hi guys I'm new to the group and in desperate need of help. I have a 4k Corolla motor from a ke 70. If I drive the car for about 25km's driving at 80kph and turn the car off. If I go to start it, it won't start. It will wind to the point where it loses battery power. All gaskets have been done, engine and radiator flushed, new radiator hoses, new coil, new fuel pump, points and condenser done and spark plugs checked. If I wait for the car to cool down for about an hour for everything to cool down it will start. This has been going on for about nine months now and no one can tell me what to do to fix it. The car has been to auto electricians, to engine rebuilders to mechan…

Help needed please. I recently purchased my mates 77 ke30 as I seen it as a bargain, however now the problems have begun. So at the moment the car has a 7k 1.8ltr motor out of a Toyota townace, so I have been told. It has a 5speed in it not sure at this point what 5 speed though, possibly the one out of the townace itself? Brakes are original. Motor has had abit of work done to it, twin webber carbs, I'm thinking possible head work, extractors and which looks like 2inch or 2.25inch exhaust system. So basically my problem is my mate bought it with rego and has since let It run out of rego and it now needs a blueslip, problem is I'm unsure if it needs an engineers ce…

I'm trying to pull apart the master cylinder from my ke35 to replace the seals. Its the newer dual circuit (rectangle) one. The main cylinder section came apart easily and cleaned up nicely. On the proportioning valve section, I removed the end cap but the internals have rust on them and don't move/ don't come out. Is there a trick to getting it apart or is it time to find a replacement MC? Thanks.

Hey guys, got a new project and having a few problems getting my bigport 4age to run properly in my ae86. MAP sensor'd cars undrivable at the moment, if i give the throttle a real quick hit and bring it up to say 2500rpm it misses and backfires and carrys on, if i move the throttle slowly to 2500 not a problem at all idles like crap (see vid) What ive tried; Have statically timed (everything lines up, cam timing etc) timing is at 10BTDC with diagnose bridged (timing is pretty erratic, 10degrees for 2-3 seconds then jumps to 15 then back to 10 etc etc..) compression check 140-145 on all 4 cylinders checked vac hoses TPS adjusted and i…

Rear drums suck. What would I need to do to convert them to disc's? Also, is there another set of disc's/calipers that I can use as a cheap big brake kit? Off a Camry, Celica etc.

So tax return its in lol.... Seriously looking into converting to ae86 struts in the 55. I actually have a hsd kit in the shed for 55 struts but the old issue of shock choice is one problem, then brake upgrades is the other. I love the look of the new 'big daddy' t3 Wilwood kit (now has vented rotors for anybody who hasn't looked in a while). So thinking 86 is probably the way to go. The 2 kits I'd like opinions/experience on is the pre-fab ajps and t3 kits. For the sake of an accurate comparison both are available with kyb agx shocks, so I'll work with those prices. Ajps are $1390, plus I don't have exchange struts so I'm up for another $245. then again for the sak…

Okay, so I'll start off by giving you an insight on what parts I'm running. I'm using the stock ke70 crossmember and steering rack, r31 rack and tie rod ends, r31 lca's to s13 knuckles and suspension. So I've done what most people do for extra lock and modded my knuckles (cut of 20mm) and now I have some serious Ackerman issues. One wheel is full lock and the other is probably not even half lock. Some help would be grouse.

Hi guys, have a 1980 ke55 and I just took the motor out and replaced it with one from a ke70 while using the ke55 cam, carb, distributor, head etc. Has new coil, points, condenser, cap, rotor, leads, seals, headgasket etc. Timing set to 8degrees btdc, points set to 0.4mm, valve clearances set cold. Starts fairly easily and can rev in neutral easily like it used to but if i give the accelerator a few jabs it dies until it returns to idle, also when I take it for a test drive it doesn't want to rev easily and dies when I go over around 3000rpm. Just wondering if you guys can give me some tips or what your thoughts are on the problem and how to fix it? First time postin…

I am planning a 4AGE conversion in my KE20 and am looking at gearbox options. Being based in the UK the T50 box is almost impossible to get hold of so I am exploring options. I am aware that the ford Type D 5-speed box is an alternative with the right bellhousing which I can get here in the UK. Do you guys know of any others that can be used that don't require too much trans tunnel mods and that would be available in the UK or Europe?

I'm gradually converting a KE55 to run a 2TGEU engine with twin Solex carburettors. The 2TGEU does not come with a mechanical fuel pump though I imagine a 2T one would do. But I'm planning to drill a crankcase breather/baffle for the PCV system through the mechanical pump block off plate as the 2TGEU block is blanked off where the 2TG crankcase breather would sit. So I expect to use an inexpensive Facet style low pressure electric fuel pump and have been looking into fuel cutoff safety switch options and there would appear to be (at least) three different types. Which type have people had experience with and recommend? - An oil pressure switch turns off the fu…

Hi guys. Ive got a a St141 Corona with a 3 speed auto. Auto seems to be having trouble selecting reverse or park. Its like theres something stopping it from engaging anything above neutral. Ive disconnected the selector rod and its definitely something internal in the box.. Looking for any advice on what the problem might be. I'm thinkinh it mite be easier to just put a 4-5 speed manual in it but I'm not sure what boxs will fit straight in.. Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated guys. Cheers

Hi! Does anyone know if Weber IW 054 Injectors fit to the Bosch type bungs? Atleast Weber has 14mm O-rings in both ends. I'm planning on building a manifold for EFI setup to my 3k and can't find any other weld on bungs than for Bosch. Heres a pic of the Weber injector: and these are the bungs I'm planning to use: http://www.ebay.com/...90a56fb&vxp=mtr

Hey guys. Yesterday I bought my first car, a 1976 ke 30 sedan 5 speed. I'm 15 and 3 months so I can't yet drive on the road, so I have time to save money from my job. I was driving my ke30 around in a paddock earlier and, well, I have already decided I want more power. I know the 4age is the most popular swap for a ke70, but I don't know about the ke30. Can you guys give me some ideas and the pros and cons of some engines? Thanks

Hey guys, basically have the engine and gearbox ready to go just searching for a diff.. I was looking at a T series but for $1750 with disc brakes I think ill shop around first.. I have a ke30 diff here in good condition but I'm unsure it will be strong enough for the Gze. Any opinions? I also want to get whichever diff I go with shortened for my deep offset wheels. Cheers guys kinda hit a wall on this one

Hey All, In the process of putting a turbo on my 5k and was wondering if anyone can post a picture (or write a response) of how they have connected the oil return pipe to the engine/sump. I am making a manifold up and placing the turbo where the carby currently sits and then the carby will sit in front of it facing the front of the car. The issue I have is because of the 5k engine slant in the car (ke10) the oil sits higher in the sump on the side that my turbo is on. Cheers Shane

Hy guys never thought I'd be one of those people that ask questions on a forum but I'm seriously out of ideas. car - ae92 engine - jdm smallport 4age problem- wont rev ok so it just seems to not run right, it'll idle just fine but as soon as you blip the throttle it does and starts to stall like its sucking in too much air and not supplying the fuel for it. If you hold the throttle open the minimalist amount you can allow it to slowly pick up to 1500rpm but the moment you go any further throttle it just goes back down So far I've changed fuel pumps and upgraded the fuel lines to 8mm different injectors Fuel regulator about 5 map sensors Igni…

I've got a strange noise coming from the carby whenever I accelerate. Sounds like a ticking/rumble noise. When I turn off the motor, makes a gargling noise. How much would you guys think ball park wise it would cost to fix something like this? I'm not sure if its much help but I took some video footage. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey rolla clan. So decided to finally put a 5speed in my ke11. I was sold it being told it was out of a 30 no tunnel mod needed. It's clear not. But the problem seem to be different size spline. Did some reading there's a 19 and 21 and bingo here's my dilemma. Can the shaft be swapped between boxes or is it a matter of changing the clutches over ?? Your most excellent know is well appreciated guys 🙏🏻cheers grant

after purchacing a KE30 recently matching number vehicle. needs a little tlc but is rust free and original which has pointed me in the direction of rebuilding the 3k motor i like the idea of injection so the question is does the 7k injection manifold set up fit a 3k motor or am i better off sourcing a 5k motor and going down that avenue. i want to keep it looking as original as possible

Hi guys. I bought a R31 diff to put into my KE and have got it cut down re-splined etc. I have gone to put it back in today but the u-bolts now wont fit over the diff. Does anyone know what ones I need? I was just going to buy larger ones and redrill the holes on the bottom plate but I didn't know if this was the proper way and wanted to see if anyone has done it before. Thanks, Kyle

So I managed to overheat my mini compressor recently with the result that I now have no compression! On strip down, it appears I have glazed the bore and worn the ring. I was thinking I could hone it with my hydraulic cylinder hone, but not to sure how to sort the carbon ring. Any ideas?
