Hey guys Been lurking this forum as a visitor for a while now collecting various info and answers, and figured id make an account and share my KE70 build and some of the progress ive made so far. Along the way i will be sharing some of the methods i use while also hopefully learning much in return! I'm 24 now and Ive had a lot of cars from V8s and 6s to 4x4s but never a corolla/drifter. This is my first propper race intended build/project and what i hope to be an awesome learning experience, but is equally likely to be a nightmare for my bank account and what my mate describes as a world of hurt... Regardless, let the fun begin!! I bought the car around christmas tim…

This got started after seeing a Crown ute wanted when checking the wanted to buy section a few weeks ago. I was on Gumtree browsing and typed in "toyota Crown Ute" and 1 came up in all of Oz. It was in Inverell NSW and I was in Caloundra QLD so after a few phone calls and Douggy agreeing on a road trip off we went in a borrowed Landcruiser with trailer. Since the ute was still regoed in NSW I drove from Inverell to Glen Innes then Douggy drove north and just kept going, stopping at Warwick for food n sleep. We got back here early on the Sunday and then got to check out the ute a bit. Being NSW regoed meant it had been sort of inspected every year but it certainly wasnt…

Hey all, been many years since i've frequently visited this forum, can't even find my original login details! I used to get about in a 3TGTE powered (and then 4AGTE) TE72 way back when, which I busted up when the tailshaft snapped at speed. I saved the driveline out of the car, and went in search of an AE71 panelvan, specifically because it was significantly lighter than the sedan, and didn't have to worry about a back seat for the eventual plans to fit a rollcage. A mate spotted this under a gum-tree in a suburban backyard, a deal was made, and the huntsman and gumleaf infested beast was sitting in my garage. After a cleanup and some SSR wheels: Anyway…

Picked up this thing for around 2k, really can't remember. Stock 4k 4spd Rings are fried pretty much, but still runs, brand new clutch before I bought it and country pack suspension. Original factory paint, interior and exterior are almost perfect, just a few little bumps from dings from trolleys and that, will get them fixed up. First things are first, new motor, it will have to be a 4k untill I have all my points back next year, so if you know any going around, let me know. Ordered for the springs to be reset, and for a pair of coils for the front. Will keep this updated as it progresses.

Hi All, Just thought i would inroduce myself and my project for the year. Just updating my KE20 to a better body and make it in line with the rules for Classic Adelaide & Improved Production Racing. My Dad and I have done the classic 5 times in a 1969 KE15 sprinter and it was time to change up to the 2ltr 3TG option. The car is getting a blasting internally at present and then the paintwork can start. It has already been issued with a CAMS log book so i can compete in the IPRASA rounds as well. Will keep some updates coming when things look more complete. DMC

So I have a few Corolla projects at the moment: KE36 KE55 But this is about the KE38 that I've decided to build for one of my younger brothers, who is learning to drive. This is basically what I started with. I had removed some front end pieces, the grill had been broken, there is a little rust around the usual places, it only had a block sitting in the engine bay, but overall it looked too good to scrap, and worthy of being restored. Engine bay to begin with Engine remainder and 4 speed removed After a quick brush down Ever get the feeling you're being watched? No point respraying the entire car without doing the …

Definitely gonna need a MIG me thinks... Not too bad from a distance, 1 of 5 or 6 in OZ? Fabrication definitely required Factory air-conditioning...NOT! Japanese for "rusty"? Back end looks much like OZ T18, maybe easiest to cut the whole arse off and weld on T18 metal? It says "LEVIN", I guess that means I'm O.K. to post on a corolla forum. Hatch is thankfully relatively rust free, otherwise I would be boned... Oh yeah, can't start work just yet, still at previous owners place, waiting for engine to be pulled. Someone wish me luck, I am gonna need it.

Hey There, I have just purchased a sweet 2000 ultima and would love to know about some intake options that people know of, I am going to upgrade the intake and exhaust first then look at suspension and the list goes on. Would any one be able to explain the intake set up of this pic I found wih a 7afe with trumpets? It looks tuff as! Would this engine fit in my car with this set up or would the air filters be facing the back and all squashed up? As in what I would need to modify my current set up to get this under my hood. At the momment it is a stock 1.8 efi 7afe Cheers

Thought since I was building one up may as well share PIXs, Info, Highs and Lows with rollaclub members. I'll keep a update of the cost as well, Just don't heckle me too much each time I get ripped off. Build so far. Picked up a old KE30 farm hack for free. 10 year old son stripped car, with a Kmart tool set, I was hoping to sell some of the interior parts to cover costs but he broke every thing. ( bugger) Worse job so far has been removing sound deading, A paint scraper and heat gun work good here. Inspected shell for rust, yep it there in all the spots I would expect to find it. Noticed its been cut and shunt at the drivers front subframe rail. This…

I don’t think I have ever been asked a question so many times when people ask me if I’m going to put a 4AGE or a 3SGE, “why would you put a Hilux donk in an AE71” Good point. So after hours of research and a few helpful words of wisdom I have come to the conclusion that a 3RZ-FE (2.7 ltr, 4cyl) Hilux motor is the one for my old girl. Plans: basically I will be aiming to make a quick, reliable streeter that will occasionally see the odd strip run an maybe a power cruse or two. Backing up to the 3RZ will be a W58 box with strengthened 1st 2nd 3rd so hopefully we don’t have too much stripping, Dog gears would have been nice but after talking to a few people it at vari…

(it was not full sick) that is the 1st day i got the car so is this one fit a ae86 notchback boot lip, don't worry the mounts were all stuffed so didnt wreck it. how the motor looked when i got it, talk about proplems on how it was put together. the manifold had 3 of the 9 bolts holding it on. so once i had realised how much was done wrong in the car i made my mind up i was goin to strip the whole car and fix it all. started with a new bigport head that came with the car then it was time to try get it running, spend about 6 weeks tracing wires b…

i pick this 5k up cheap. ran it in ke55 for 3 months with a blown hg (pressurizing the coolant system and EPIC blowing smoke) while my warm 4k was being built. pulled like a school boy! i ran some serious thick engine oil/gearbox oil to try keep the smoke down. it kinda worked :lolcry:. its been sitting on the garage floor the past 5 months doing nothing so i was thinking of rebuilding her and selling it. trolling thru ebay, i found 2 5k gasket kits CHEAP!. ordered them in and they arvived today. as soon as i got home (around 6ish) i put the motor on the stand and started ripping her apart inspecting her. i started packing up my tools at 7:45 LOL! i had some trob…

I have owned this car twice, this is the second time I have attempted to build it for a 4age.. First owned the car somewhere around 10 years ago.. Paid $700 for what was a decent car, as time went on I purchased an import corona turbo and got sick of the corolla. After sitting in the weather for a few years I decided to fit a 4age in it... After fitting the motor, getting extractors and a bunch of work done I got desperate and needed a wagon.. So I sold it for $1000 with brand new custom 4age extractors, modified radiator, recond (unused head), recond twin solex and a brand new redline manifold and a t50.. Sadly I lost an ASS load of cash car was stripped f…

Hey guys, This is my first ke Rolla. (daily is a ae93 hatch) I just picked up a Ke20 Today and rolled it onto the front lawn, Its been sitting for I think approximately 10 years, it has been started a few times in that time Specs: 1972 Ke20 2 door, Mustard Yellow 3k 2spd Auto Its complete minus a couple of bits of trim, all the doors, boot and seats etc have been stripped out, and put in boxes, a few holes of rust the worst of which are behind the wheel arch I have picked up a 4K-C from a ke70 and a 5 speed gearbox to match, I'm rebuilding that at the moment, It will have new brakes, disks up front, probably a ke3x/55 upgrade for now untill I get rego on it…

so this is my newly aquired ke70 four speed manual 4k-c engined shitbox. i say rolling relic because besides the rust repairs it needs which involves the two spaces above the taillights and a small patch in the roof. when thats fixed and ground down and undercoated. the paint will be left the same, the spotlights will remain. the interior is staying as it is. it will eventually have a worked 4k and hopefully go sideways on demand but i don't want to roll the guards or anything i just want to keep the old school patina and slam it on some black widened stockies. oh and theres abit of rust in the fuel filler cap but an easy fix. the wheel arches seem to b…

Hi all, I just recently purchased an unregistered 1981 Corolla KE55 Sedan for $300 with only 264,000 k's. In pretty good condition, paint needs a bit of work but it's definately a work in progress. At the moment it is running just the standard 4K-C engine and 4sp gearbox. Hoping to maybe upgrade to a 2TG engine and upgrade to a 5sp T50 gearbox. I've heard this is the most common conversion...but unfortunately can't do all this until i get off my P plates (stupid new laws!). As mentioned before, paint needs some work, hoping to do a respray of the current colour. Pretty clean inside, apart from the usual wear and tear you expect from a 25 year …

I now know why Jip has named his rollas!! :y: because he has so many he needs some better way of indentifying which is which to other people. I'm now starting to get that way as the "old car" and "new car" terms sorta won't cut it with another one! I think this one needs a name now! so if anybody has any suggestions, shoot!!? ;) I'm thinking maybe "Suzi", considering whats gunna happen to it. :y: Anyway, here she is..... Yes it it a little rough on the outside (rust wise), but I didn't really want a "good" shell for this project. Has a few spots that will be fixed befor reg (its un-registered) like wheel arches, front guards, rain gutters etc. This is…

In May this year we were lucky to travel to Japan with 2 other couples from the Classic Japanese Car Club. The highlight of our trip was a visit to the Japanese National Museum where there were 2 corollas , a 69 KE10 coupe which was a 4 speed column shift and a LHD sprinter. Moving on to the Toyota Museum , in the Japanese section, was a 67 KE10 and a red KE15 sprinter. These cars were brand new and after a little talk to the curator, he allowed me to lift the bonnet of the sprinter.I will never forget the thrill of seeing these cars Cheers Lou

Well I have not been lurking here for a while, but I acquired a 1971 TE28/KE26 last year. It has a 4AGE swap with a T50 trans. Motor is a redtop 4AGE from a 1st generation MR2 and so is the complete wiring harness and ECU. The T50 trans is from a GTS AE86. The front suspension is also from an AE86 with T3 camber plates and Ground Control coilovers. I'm planning a future R&P swap from a Starlet KP61. The rear is stock and planning to match it to a GTS AE86 LSD complete rear. I'm trying to find a old 74-75 Corolla 10bolt rear, but they are rare as hell. I have 13x7 and 13x8 Enkei Apaches wrapped in Sumitomos with a lil' bit of tire strtching. The body is pretty much wha…

Hi guys! I probably know a few dudes off here, just posting up my latest ride for you all to have a geez at. I've had a few Corolla sx/gti's but this is the most special I think. Below is a copy-paste from my other thread! Righteo. Everyone likes a thread with a story. This is quite fresh tale, but it's pretty darn interesting. And I hope it'll get more interseting within the next few weeks. I'll start with some background information for you all. CAN SOMEONE HELP CALIRFY THIS INFORMATION? DO YOU OWN A 1991 COROLLA SX? The Toyota Corolla sx / GTI was sold during the the period of 1989 to 1992. The GTI was just a facelifted SX, minus some mo…

Unsure of build date, haven't had much time to look at it yet! Got the ke10, a ke11 and a load of parts on the weekend. It's a rolling shell that came without an engine and gearbox, and, as far as I know, everything else is there. It just needs to be put together. So the plans are: - Give it a good wash - Get a rubber kit for it and put the windows in it as soon as possible, to stop it becoming waterlogged. - Whack everything else back in it! :bash: Planning on putting an uprighted 4K, downdraft webbers and a t50 in it. Not sure what I'm doing about the transverse spring and all the other quirky stuff, I haven't had anything to do with ke1X's before. Tintin…

I got this KE55 from my brother, he has had it in his farm shed for 8 years west of Gympie in Qld. A mate of ours overheated it driving out ther 8 years ago and left it there. My bro rebuilt the 4K with new pistons and the usual stuff. It's been run but not driven. So he started the body work and lost interest and it sat half rubbed back since. I finally bullied him into relinquishing it to me to make into a hillclimber and new home for an SXE10 Beams 3sge and 6MT that I had. As "purchased". The new engine with a 1UZ throttle body adapted to remove the stupid half drive by wire setup. We decided to get the panel work done first and re…

Basically I sold my pride and joy last year and bought a house(LINK to build-up). Now I've got the bug to build another one. I put up a WTB add on here where redae71 quickly put me in touch with one of his mates who was selling a shell. Got a early KE70 with a silver-top sitting in it for $600(bargain), palmed off the 20V to a mate, now I'm left with a rough but Straight/Rust free shell, perfect canvas to work my magic on. I'm a Bit of a fly-by-the-seat-of-pants type, but to start with the plan is: SR20DE SR/RB box S13 front coil-overs R33 Brakes all round F-series Diff Body braced and lightened as much as possible This is how it looks right now. Hi everyone. I saw a rollaclub sticker on the back of a car, so came here to check it out. Looks like a great place for me, seeing as I have a rolla myself! Mine is a Gunmetal grey 1992 Corolla SX SECA, 5 speed manual, 4A-GE 'smallport', air-con, electric windows and mirrors, DARK tinted glass. I've had it nearly a year and am very VERY happy with it, it's been reliable and it's quick enough to bring a smile to my face and not be cursing it when I need to go for a gap in heavy melbourne traffic. Although the power bug has bitten, and the plans for it include upgraded cams, cat back system, cold air intake, better tyres that actually don't struggle so…

Hey guys, since i got to brisbane (recently moved here from darwin NT) ive been looking to fill the void that is not owning a rolla... On the lookout, good old rolla club delivered. Picked up this rolla the other day and the white one for spares the one with flames and the 5k in it needs some work, it had some serious noises inside the head when i went to look at it. Got it home and found the last rocker had come off, to fix that i stole the retainer c clip and spring shim out of the other engine. while i had it apart i pulled the head and checked out the pistons and everything and replaced the head gasket. With everything back together it started first…

So I bought this beast for $500 with rego back in September off a lady who's mum had it since new. Always liked this model corolla and always wanted one. Luckily this was the first car i clicked on on carsales lol. ENJOY! Stats: 1978 Mustard Gold KE30 stock 3k (goes hard) 13" alloys on bridgestone turanzas Taco Woodgrain steering wheel. This is what it was like when i bought it: everything totally stock except for the KE55 grille There is a fair bit of rust on the bonnet, front guards, and front doors. Plus a…
