 -Hey guys, okay guys I was checking out this Celica site a while back and I saw this guys Celica... RA20 Its the Fifth Celica Ever Made. It got me thinking, hmm, i wonder if anyone has the youngest or oldest KE30 ever made on rollaclub. It'd be worth checking out whos got what. So I went to the wreckers last week and checked out their 9 KE30 corollas. It turns out that out of them all Lola is the youngest. So i put this challenge forth to everyone on Rollaclub. Post me your Vin number and i'll add it to the list of your model with your name next to it. Feel free to post a pic too. Its entirely up to you to post. From the Administrators: Guys jus…

Hi guys. I'm sure we are all familiar with the idea of a parts car. Some may call them donor cars, parts whores etc. They are an essential tool in building other better cars, and are essential to every restoration. I was looking through some older photos and thought why not start a thread to remember them by. Ill begin. The only rule is that they must be as stripped and flogged looking as possible, as close to the end as possible.

This is a warning to the Rollaclub community and the wider Toyota community. Last November a person started advertising on ebay and not honouring sales. This spread to a number of Toyota related forums. Mainly here and AE86DC. This person has gone by the name of Rollamanke70 and mkxy351gtho on ebay. Rollaclub names of DRFTR, rollaslider87, dirttracker and Ritto64. He has used the names Mickey Scuteri, Nic, Domenic, and to be honest, recently any other that seemed to come it his/her/its head. His emails are usually gmail addresses or non isp addresses. As vigilant as we are, we can't always immediately block any new accounts (for various reasons.) …

I'm guessing most if not all of you have an air compressor of some sort in the garage for either the odd job or all the time. Can anyone recommend a brand or size that works well for them. I need one thats going to allow me to do some painting now and then, DA sanding of panels, some grinding and use smaller tools too. I see super cheap have a special on their 2.5hp, 120lpm, 40ltr tank Blackridge compressor, would this cut it for the tools I want to use? I'm guessing probably not but not sure as I havent bought a compressor before. Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers

Hello .. I tried to post in a Norwegian Toyota forum, but not so many peoples there that had the information i was lookin for :P Bought myself a KE20, 75 mod, 2 door with 90000km on it. its in pretty good shape, just some rust on the channels, and floor ...buts thats fixable .. So, to the plan ... lowering and wider wheels n tires, has done a little researtch on forums and so on....but when there is a picture of a car that "sits" well, no one seems to know the width and offsets :P About the lowering part, i have talked to a firm in NZ that offers, lower front struts, 45mm lowering springs, lowering blocks for the rears, and new rear dampers .... is the…

Hi folks, I'm welding in patch panels and doing some general rust repair on my 1980 Corolla Wagon (TE72). Questions: --- 1. Can anyone tell me how to safely R+R the chrome trim that runs along the top of the car? I'd like to remove it for painting but I'm not sure how to take it off without bending it. 2. Can anyone suggest a good vinyl paint match for a tan/brown interior? I'll need to paint both the trim and the dash, they are different colors...and probably every single 'x-mas tree' connector holding the interior together since they pretty much explode whenever I look at them funny (apparently 34 year old plastic is a little on the brittle side) …

Hi Everyone, I am planning on building a 7AGE 20V, i have an idea on how to go about doing this however i have some concerns and questions that maybe some of our experienced members here can clarify for me? I currently have a 7AFE at home. and i plan on getting a 4AGE 20V front cut with all running gear and swap the bottom end with the 7A. now the 4AGE 20V loves high RPMS, while the 7A block and its internals might struggle with that. although i am aware that a swapping the bottom end the engine will still work, how well it will run is another topic.. so what i am thinking is with the 7A bottom end - i'm thinking stock crank, forged rods and forged…

Hmmm seems a sad state of affairs, especially for the beloved superlites and many other popular classic wheels these guys used to make. Heard they stopped production last year and have a limited stock of whats left. Always thought they were a great wheel for the price and heaps better than some other brands that carried a bad reputation. Probably the time to get in there and ask for a spare for your set as they sell single wheels last time I looked.

Looking at the piping running around a turbo'd engine bay, I wondered if you can mount them vertically. The one advantage a non-crossflow motor has is the exhaust and inlet right beside one another. Maybe redrill the oil return to sit at the bottom near the exhaust bearing so the oil doesn't pool on the seal, and I assume the whole oil gallery in the turbo is full of pressurised oil so the inlet bush doesn't starve.. Probably some single-choke downdraught carb would be neater. Just point the exhaust manifold down more until the turbo inlet lines up with the current inlet manifold and stack the carb and air cleaner on top. What am I missing??

So old faithful Renault is slowly dying and I have decided to get a T31 series 2008 onward Nissan X-Trail. 6 speed manual (not CVT), petrol 4WD on demand. Anyone have any feedback on these? I can't find anything searching around, other than CVT concerns which aren't relevant, and potential frames cracking around towbar mounts which isn't necessarily a x-trail specific thing.

hey everyone, just a quick query. looking at buying a ke35 the guy is asking $5,500 for the car yet it has no roof lining or carpet. rust has been welded and it has been re painted (in my opinion a crappy colour) in hemi orange with a black hood. Old Torana style. From what I understand, the guy doesnt have most of the front grill assembly either and the car is running a 4k engine with high cam. To me this car is worth a max of $3,500, and thats pushing it. I saw a ke35 go on one of there forums earlier this year for $5,500 and it was a complete rebuild with a 4age in it I think and everything was immaculate. But as I havent really had any experience with ol…

Hiya guys, As the title states, I'm not sure as to which brand to buy, I've never had any experience with this sort of product before and as a first time buyer I'd like to get it half way right. I guess they're all designed to carry out said job. Anyone who has had both good and bad experiences with different brands, I'd like to know, I wan't to buy something that works!! Low down, engine was rebuilt 10+ years ago, only done 20k before removal, upon inspection there is a fine/thin film of black over all internals, no major sludge of any sort. Feedback would be greatly appreciated, cheers!

Hi guys. doing up a ke55. I'm 36 and this is my first rolla. All new brakes and suspension. Extractors and exhaust. The tiny little 4k is in the shop getting warmed up for summer. I already know that in the near future I will want a 4age. I'm trying to find a mechanic in vic that knows rollas and 4ages. I'm happy to pay that bit extra for tidy work. Backyard or shop mechanic is fine. If anyone has used someone, or knows a mate who has please let me know. thanks

i saw an all wheel drive 92 corolla wagon on he road the other day and made me think if it was possible to use one to convert my 92 sedan to all wheel drive? and of course if you were going to go that much effort youd want a 4 age as well... so is it possible to convert a sedan or hatch to awd? if so would there be any dificulty putting in a 4age more than usual? on another note, would it be possible to just slap a 4age in to a wagon? has anyone tried this or is there some massive issue stopping people from doing this? ultimately the dream would be converting my 92 sedan to an awd 4age turbo. as far as i know it hasnt been done before which is what makes this temp…

Hello. While prowling around car sites and ebay etc Ive noticed some sharp upwards trends amongst Jpanese car owners. What really strikes me is that a few key models either have appreciated sharply in the last 3 years or the people that own them are well and truly dreaming. Here are my examples and rationale for my line of thought... We all know the Ra28 is a classic Toyota Celica with a broader appeal than just to specific Toyota tragics. Obviously since its styling is copied curve for curve from the mustang fastback that came out 10 years earlier its going to catch a broader market than most. However, if being like a Mustang is a great value adder, can…

I've had this idea in my head for a while now. It's a simple concept: take a turbocharger and attach a clutch pulley to the input shaft which is driven off the crank. The idea is to spin the turbine when the exhaust pressure is low, then when enough pressure builds up, the clutch disengages and the exhaust gasses spin the turbine. Kind of like a centrifugal supercharger with a rear housing. Would this kind of concept work, or am I just dreaming? It would be more compact than any other compound setup and more simple too. I know it's not a good idea to put any side loading on the shaft, so maybe it could have some sort of bracket to brace the pulley, or something. …

Hi Guys, Let me start by saying that I'm new to the club  I am in serious need of restoring a KE20. Got some issues to clear before starting the task. Consider this a car which has not undergo any engine conversion so still the original engine is there. Is it possible to add power steering to this car without any issue? Because most of my friends keep telling me if I do it, it will add much extra weight to the car making it difficult for the engine to drag. :(( What is the average fuel consumption of this car? Also are there KE20 lights (maybe Chinese or Taiwanese) to buy in the market or maybe to order online from somewhere? Help is appreciat…

I'm looking at other corollas and I'm starting to really like the ke38 wagon What are the differences between the Ke30 and 38? ie, boot space size in litres, wheelbase, feature difference etc. Are ke38's useable as wagons or are they underpowered? Give me some insight, because in the future I'm planning on buying a 38 because people don't usually like wagons and sell them on the cheap but i see wagons as infinitely more useful than sedans

I've been staring at this exhaust manifold for some time now. It's a piece of K series engine history that, in my opinion has been a wee bit ignored. And for several good reasons. 1. It's attached to the intake as they all are. And that's wee bit shite! 2. It's cast iron and prone to cracking. 3. They're not tube headers and that's not cool now is it? But I'll say they're just as good as most tube headers for few reasons. The majority of K series extractor manifolds are 4-1 pipe combinations with unequal length runners despite being advertised as tuned length. This negates exhaust scavenging in the collector because the negative pressure waves created by each runn…

I recently purchase what was advertised as a KE10 SL gear knob from a member of this forum. I received the item and after a day or two I decided to compare it with the brochure I have showing the optional SL interior package (gear knob, steering wheel and dash). Quite clearly the item on the left is different to the brochure. I told the seller I felt the item was not what he advertised it as. He swears black and blue that the item is indeed a genuine from Toyota SL knob. Then while doing some googling i found the following... Now I'm no expert on the subject but it looks as though I've been sold an AMCO item. So I throw this out to anyone with mo…

G'day all, I'm about to paint my engine bay with some Acrylic from Autobarn. I have repaired all the rust with patches, removed and treated the rust under the battery tray and sanded it down with 320G. At this point I have a few small patches of bare metal which I will cover with etch primer and then rub down the whole lot with 600G? then apply the Yellow Acylic, probably three coats? not sure yet. Questions... Does the whole engine bay need primer or just the patches of bare metal? Is 600G OK to base and top coat over? or would 800 be better? Will it need a clear coat after the yellow? I have read yes and no but I'm thinking no as Acrylic should be kinda glos…

Stumbled across this quite well written account of Levin's and Trueno's. Most interesting part is the explanation for the complicated dealer setup in japan, and the reasoning behind the bewildering model array available in japan. Interesting looking binliography also. Note it is 5 pages long. http://ateupwithmotor.com/model-histories/2t-g-corolla-levin/

I am trying to remove my dash pad to heal up some holes and apply a vinyl paint, but I can't seem to get the stubborn thing out. The screws have all been removed from the front and sides and I have some play. The piece farthest forward along the windshield seems to be clipped in and no matter what angle I push or pull at, I cannot remove it. This is in an AE70 2 door sedan. Anyone with experience pulling the dash pad out of this vehicle, or even any general knowledge at all, I would greatly appreciate your help.

HI guys, dad here better kown as Rod Braybon Jnr, Ive recently been in quite an entertaining debate with a few members on this ( what i would call a rarely bloody decent forum!) around the differences between the usage of Acrylic( Lacquer for the ol fellas like myself!) aaand the good ol 2pak types and applications of car painting,. I'm really unsure of how to do this but I'm keen on giving it a go, For yourselves your welcome to either continue reading or leave an opinion and give it a miss, But I'm merely trying to get more ,young ,not megamillionaire type car enthusiasts to pick up a paintgun at home and and have a go!,( you may be surprised , i certainly was!!!), …
