  1. for a toyota ke70 what is the widest wheels size you can have in NSW?. I was curious because i was looking into buying a ke70 but alot of the ones i was looking at where defected because the track width was to wide, but it gave the car a real cool stance. would like to have something like this.

G'day guys. Been doing a bit of looking around lately at front suspension stuff. And usually when someone says about suspension for ke70's everyone says oh there's no shock options etc Well this may be an option. Turns out, AW11 mr2 rear shocks will fit in KE struts. Supposedly around 50-70mm shorter. Apparently 85-87 AW11 rear inserts only work though, As later than that they're too big. The thing is you can also buy these in aftermarket spec, in shorter stroke still and adjustability as well i'm pretty sure? There's no AGX option available but Koni and Tokiko apparently make them. I can't confirm this 100% but i'm looking into having a crack …

Hey guys I've just out a 5k in my 26 that has had a little amount of work done to it at some point, put new carbies on there and got it running. Only problem is that cylinder 1 doesnt do anything! So far I've figured out that compression is good, I've got spark (at the plug), valve springs and push rods are fine and I have fuel as its on the plug when I pull it out. As I'm a novice mechanically what else could I be looking at? I'm assuming a valve problem?

Hey everyone, can anyone tell me what gearboxes these are. The first one is a 5 speed and I am pretty sure it is a k50 The second on is a 4 speed but nfi what model it is, and have not been able to find a picture of one similar to it anywhere. I have tried every possible search on google images and in these forums, but no luck. They are both from a 4k engine and have identical bell housing bolt patterns, the extension housing bolt pattern is a lot different however and appears not to be interchangeable.

I see in pictures that it is mounted at an angle and don't know why. So I greatly appreciate if you could help in letting me know the specific angle I should fix it at. cheers.

I'm very new at this mechanics stuff. Ive been playing around with my 4k and I've successfully serviced the auto transmission and changed the head gasket so far. I'm working my way through the tuning now. I've got the gregory's manual and the yellow toyota 4k manual. (which you can download here http://www.retrojdm.com/ScanView.asp?ScanID=29 ) The toyota yellow book is very clear, the gregory's not so good. I've found that they assume you know the basic stuff. Can anyone recommend a good generic workshop manual to teach me the basic stuff? thanks

  19. I've got a set of Ae86 struts that have been converted into coilovers but I'm not happy with the quality. Essentially I want to replace the cut and welded stock tube with a new not-welded tube with a nice new gland nut thread cut in the top (threads damaged currently). The strut tube doesn't appear to be welded to spindle casting, so I was wondering if anyone had tried removing it with a bit of heat. I'd like to know before I go ripping the suspension out of my car preferably. Thanks

So, the Golden Girl is a dead stock KE70. Sometimes I jump in, it fires up, runs for 30seconds to a minute and dies. About as long as it takes to empty a carb bowl full of fuel. It won't restart. The fuel filter is empty, so is the pump. Solution is to put the filter inlet line into a jar of petrol, pour some down the carb and refil the carb, pump and filter. It makes a shopping trip into an anxious gamble.. It can be fine for a month or two, then do it. After running around town for a while I park it, lift the bonnet and see the fuel filer filling up more. Then bubbles come from the outlet end into the filter. The fuel filter is filling up because it is upsi…

My question is, Should i get the sump resealed and do an oil change then, or ignore the sump do and oil change and ignore the small leak?

Hey guys Just a question of a cosmetic nature. I have finally finished getting my daughters KE55 hardtop complete and on the road for her. Just in the nick of time as she got her license last week. My question is do genuine passenger side mirrors exist, were they an optional extra, and is there securing nuts welded to the inside of the door skin the same as the drivers side. For safety I would like her to have a second mirror but she wants to keep it looking as original as possible. Any info on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

  24. Distributor Block Off Plate for 4KC? I'll be switching to mega squirt MSX3 soon and one of the reasons is to gain full control of the timing. In order to do this I have four 5v logic coil on plugs, a hall effect sensor, and 36-1 crank wheel. Obviously, the distributor is not needed with this setup. I know I need the bottom half because it is driven off the camshaft which turns the distributor that turns the oil pump. Is there a nice pre-fabricated cover to fit over the bare internals of the distributor while still allowing it to drive the oil pump? Regards, John

Righty-o, this is the story: As you all know, I'll be changing my diff soon, and along with that I'll need to be modifying my tailshaft to accommodate the new diff. Am hoping to get it all done by the end of next week, so wheels need to start turning :) Anyway, at the moment I'm running a Celica TA22 T50 gearbox, which has the same output spline as the K40/K50 gearboxes so I'm using the stock tailshaft. When I change the diff, I'm going to be *hopefully - I need to find one first!* also changing gearboxes to the AE86 T50 gearbox which will hopefully solve my never ending gearbox woes... The AE86 T50 has a different output spline, so I will need the matching yok…
