hey ya'll I'm tim, a noob here, from toowoomba, queensland. ive had my 1984 ke70 for about... 9 months now. the engine's starting to get a bit old, and needs a rebuild soon i be thinking as it is starting to leak a bit of oil here and there... not great amounts, but just enough to be noticable. anyway, i was thinking of putting a 4age or something similar in but eh, bugger it, i think ill just clean up the old 4K-C. this is also my first car, so I'm still learning about which bits do what and all that sorta stuff. so any suggestions? id be prepared to spend a fair bit (maybe like $1500 tops) and yea. the car is fully stock, engine wise, atm. i keep her running …

The 4runner died yesterday so in a mad scramble to find some wheels to get to work a mate of mine came up with this little gem that he said he would sell to me as he didn't drive it anymore. It's quite fun to be driving something like this again.

I can't really find a HEAP of information about KE55's over the internet, which sucks. Just wondering how much they initially weigh, how many of them were produced, Wether or not if they are rare or common. By the looks of it I see a fair few of them on this site, so they seem kind of common. Though I'm pretty sure most of them come with the little metal badge on the back left hand side of there boot, it says TRD etc? Toyota Racing Development. So I am just wondering if anyone can give me pretty good information about my KE55 Hardtop. Thanks,

Hey. I'm trying to figure out a way to make a custom intake gasket for my 5K. My first thought was to buy a 4K gasket and get a machinist to enlarge the holes. Would this work? In other words, can it be guaranteed that the head ports were enlarged from the centre out in a uniform fashion? E.g. the photo below: If it can be guaranteed, then I can do what I first planned and I'm hoping it will work. Cheers.

I'm hoping to build a budget ke70 rolla or some thing in that area, I'm not wanting a full on show car now where near. I wod like to build one that is kinda lik…

So I had this weird knocking coming from my engine, I thought it was the SC12 but I just replaced it and the noise is still there. I'm 99% sure its coming from under the cam covers. All the timing marks line up and all the clearances seem fine. It is fine until the engine warms up, only happens at idle. The car seems to drive fine, pulls hard. Has 264/8.1 HKS cams (not installed by me). Video of the noise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5iEIknu8-c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMJBT5LI6hQ First video today, second video when I first got it started after it got warm. I'm stumped. Cam bearings?

G'day fellas, I've recently picked up a 5k and twin SU carbs. I have stripped the carbs down and cleaned them up. However, I can't see how the PCV hose will have it's run off. What way are they normally hooked up? A catch can? (AltezzaClub? I've read how you set up yours, but I couldn't see the vavle) Cheers!

I have a 5k with just a bit of work done to it, 85hp at rear wheels at 7500rpm in a KE30 2dr sedan. I recently broke a valve spring as the cam has a lot of lift. Fitted new double springs with about 100lb seat pressure but chewed a lifter straight away. Replaced all lifters and runs ok again but to save the hasle of hydraulic lifters i want to change to solids. I know i have to have to cam hardened and that chev solid lifters will fit and pushrods i will change for 1 piece items of the required length. My question is: will the adjustable rockers from a 3k or 4k fit on the shaft of the 5k? I've been told that i might make an extra 10hp and an extra 500pm to be 95hp at 8000…

i got these carbs yesterday, and am quite curious about them. they are mikuni/solex carbs. as near as i can tell they are from a '74 RT104 GT with an 18RG. not sure if 40 or 44mm yet, have to pull them off yet. the manifold is interesting as it is modified. the guy i got them off thought it was to suit a 2L escort, but i'm not so sure. i have trawled through a few gasket books and it looks as though the manifold is for a 2T. can anyone verify? are 2T and 2TG inlet manifold gaskets different?

So, i've made a list. Lets start. Me car is a Toyota Levin 1991, AE101, with a 4A-GE silvertop 20v Quad throttle, 1.6lt. in it. Its been running really well, like really well, like... you know toyotas! but theres a few things that have been bothering me. #1 the speedo My speedo seems to be very indecisive. and the problem its self is indecisive. When I'm cruzn along my speedo kindda dips. like sitting on a hundred and look at the speedo, suddenly its all over the place 80, back to 100... the odd thing if the vehicle is still warming up its worse, like dips at 70 or 80. and the faster i go the worst it seems to get. it could show 50km and I'm going 130. its an o…

OK, I am getting sick and tired of people talking up welding there diffs and so on so heres a simple explaination for you all, there are there MAJOR types of diff setup, open limited Slip (LSD) Locked. OPEN: simply where its easier to turn the wheels the power will go. E.G you are turning a corner and the outside wheel starts to spin, all of the power will go to that wheel, so your car will slow down as you have NO power to te ground. LSD: A limited slip diff will try to distro the power evenly between both wheels, E.G you are turning a corner and the outside wheel starts to spin, The diff …

hey guys I haven't posted much on here as of yet, uni is over so i'll be on here a fair bit. I've got a ke30 2door sedan, I'm getting pics up soon. I installed a tacho, and at a hundred clicks, the little 4k revs at approximately 3,500RPM. It has a 5 speed gearbox. Is this normal for a 5 speed 4K? I'm thinking its got a different diff in it ... In which case i will be replacing it soon. .. I did a search but couldn't find anything specific enough... Cheers guys, dyzza

This will probably end up in the Wiki somewhere, but for now I'm just going to put it in this thread. Lots of people talk about T-series diffs, kouki and zenki etc, but few people ever mention the axles. And then there's the people who say that if you have a non-LSD T-series diff and you want to put a TRD LSD center in, then you need to shorten the axles about 5mm... Well anyways, what I wanted to point out is: Not all T-series axles are created equal. There are at least (and probably more) 3 different sorts: TA22: These are fairly short, fairly thin, and use tiny bearings RA23/38, TA23: These are about the same length as the TA22 (I think slightly long…

Ok so sometimes, getting more often now, on startup and lower revs the engine makes that terrible fan belt "SQUEEEEEEEEE"... so I've tightened the fan belt, but it still does it. Also from 1000 to 1500 revs half the time it goes "sqik sqik sqik sqik" like a squeeky trolley wheel that needs WD40 or something, as well as fairly often doing the "SQUEEE" crap. Should I be replacing the fan belt? Chiars guys :)

Can someone please tell me what is wrong with my 4KC, if I put more than half throttle down to try to catch up to traffic or to go faster off the lights I hear a ticking sound or something like that. The noise itself is kind of hard to hear over the diff and the driveshaft but it is there, my dad said he couldn't hear it so don't worry about it, it has me worrying though because I don't want to have to buy a new engine for it yet, I'm not ready to upgrade yet and I need a working car to get to and from work. Someone please help, the ticking noise has me worried about my KE70. Further info, it's a 1981 KE70 Corolla. Stock standard everything, with a 4KC engine.

Fellow rolla enthusiasts I have been encouraged to upgrade the suspension of my KE70 by a shock absorber snapping in two. Has anyone done this to a KE70 or AE71? Basically I just want my car to handle and of course to look phat. If anyone has done this with king springs and/or monroe shocks definately please reply to this post! These are the brands I want to use. Part numbers would also be helpful for reference if you did use these brands. Apart from that, any advice? If you suggest chopping the springs I will pretend you are a computer glitch and hit my moniter. :y: Hehe I like it how googling suspension and KE70 brings up a rollaclub hit first go.…

hi guys. after driving home in the pissing rain is tassie (yay for tassie weather) i decided i needed to increase the amount of light that my headlights supply. i think i could see more with them off. so anyway, i see a few options i know of, but i have really only heard, but never tried these. : 1) use a lower gauge earth lead 2) brighter globes (how bright is the legal max?) 3) relay switch i don't know of anymore options avaliable. labour is no worry, i am only limited to cost. if anybody knows any other ways or can even tell me how to do this i would be very greatful... 91 Toyota Paseo if that helps. thanks

I have an SV21 Camry. It doesn't work. I don't know why. RACQ doesn't know why either. It's sitting in the middle of Brisbane city, and I probably can't keep it there forever, but RACQ will only tow it 10km... I drove it to work this morning (no issues), and now it won't go anywhere anymore :monkey: Anyway. Battery OK Starter motor OK Fuel pump OK Fuses OK Spark plugs OK Cold start injector OK Injectors getting power, but NO PULSE. What is wrong? Dead computer? That's the only part the RACQ dude can think of. :)

didnt get to bed lastnight until about 4am just doing the usual chilling as uni holidays are on. and this morning i get a knock on the door and someone has hit my car. i originally thought it was a joke as i have heard it before as my paddock basher ke70 doesnt have the best of good looks. and i went outside and it was actual hit and the lady that hit it was just standing there giving me her details. she was in new pajero. so theres some free cash for me :) ive been looking for an excuse to buy a new car. its bit of a fairy tap.

Hey guys. Pretty excited... went down to Bob Janes to see what wheels they had as I've been wanting to get wider ones.. I looked through the rims they have and they're all not really suited to corollas... also, when the guy saw my car he realised that all the wheels we'd discussed wouldn't fit because it's a RWD KE70. As it turns out, a guy had ordered superlites and never picked them up... and they fit perfectly on my rolla. They look so friggon awesome too... not fancy, just simple and look SO good. I can't remember the exact specs of them but they're 15". I've already put a deposit on them (superlites and some nice chunky new tyres) for $600... and the total cost is $1…

Hey. On my 5K, there is a hose going from the rocker cover to the air filter. Somewhere on this site I've seen someone get rid of the hose and just chuck an oil breather on. Is there a reason the oil is going into the air filter? Is it better to chuck on an oil breather? And is it legal? I ask because my exhaust fumes or something smell kinda oily and there is a bit of oil slowly building up around the start of the hose on the rocker cover. Cheers. Edit: Found this which answers my first question (oil goes into the air filter because of pressure from the engine pushing it out of the vent thing), but not my last two...
