Hey guys since I've changed my wheels on my ke26 I have noticed more so (it was like it before also) that at the rear the passenger side is 10-15mm higher than the drivers side. Sounds stupid but is this because someone has always sat in the drivers side for 40 years and the driver side leaf has slightly sagged? Or are there other variables that effect ride height? Its not the shocks as they are completely farked. Troy

Ok so early this morning (Sneaky time when it was still dark) I drove to my local Exhaust Work Shop, walked around the back, opened the large bin to find a 6" long 3" diameter straight Exhaust Cutoff, and two 6" long 3" Diameter curved Exhaust Cutoff's.. And my plans are to make my own twin drift pipes.. My Ke70 is already running a 3" exhaust - Single pipe, but I want to cut it off about 8" from the rear of the car - Leaving me with a 3" exhaust running almost to the end of my keto without an exhaust tip.. I was wandering how I would go about making my own pipes though (How would I cut and weld them to fit) My plan is just to cut the left curved pipe at rough…

G'day guys. Just thought i'd chuck up something i did today. I pulled my Ke10 dash cluster apart and removed the MPH speedo dial with the intention of scanning it in and making a kmh one, When i had an idea.. I found a ke20 dash cluster i had laying around my house, and pulled that apart as well, and sure enough.. it'll fit!Z It all lines up, 60mph is where 100mkh is etc etc it's all sweet! And, Fits straight in! No mods needed, Went straight back together and looks factory Sweet!! Now i know what you'll say, it wont be accurate, but, from 40kmh up it is. It's just because of the ke20's '0' is in a different spot to ke10's so the low…

Kind of an odd one but does anyone here know much about the availability of second hand brake assist devices for heavy vehicles?? I'm only interested with the eddy current brake or the water/hydro brake for a home job that I have been concocting. Main thing would be the average price for one of these units and something capable to withstand something like 300 lb/ft. I haven't called any truck wreckers as I'm not exactly sure what to ask for or if many trucks came with these types of brake assists. I think buses mainly use them because they are much quieter than exhaust brakes. Any info would be great! Cheers!

Hi all, I'm in need of a carby tune on a dyno. The carburetors are Mikuni CV ITB's (off a GSX1100R I believe) and they're strapped to Phil's twin cam 4K. They're currently running very lean due to changing the air filtration system and it looks like it's gonna need a whole new set of jets/needles to be selected. I need to know two things: Is there someone around Brisbane who is capable of getting these just right, and what am I expecting to pay? I've been told it's not gonna be cheap, but I'd really like to know how much roughly it will cost. Thanks!

Hey guys. Tuesday morning when I was about to leave for work my sev died whilst I was warming it up. It will turn over but won't fire. Got the RAA around last night to see if I could get a diagnosis, he told me that my fuel pump ha packed it in. Got a new pump from Bursons today, the pump itself is exactly the same as the one on the motor at the moment, except it doesn't have a return line. It has the hole where it should be but it doesn't lead to anywhere and the inside of it isn't threaded. But it came with the necessary return line fitting. Have I been given the wring pump?

Hi all, I'm bit of a foreigner here as I don't own any corolla but I have a 1978 ms85 Toyota crown that I just put a 5mge in to. Everything has been working great since I put the 5mge in until I hooked up the oil pressure light and a gauge. The car has a Brand New (old stock) Aisin 4m oil pump (to suit my old 4m mid sump) which I installed to the 5mge and a large capacity K&N oil filter. I put 10w30 oil in it, I would start the car and it would be about 25psi at idle, then as the temperature of the car increases it would drop slowly down, then at about operating temp it drops down to 3-5 psi and after a while of driving the oil pressure light comes on. …

Well I've read 100 times now, people saying that toyota inflated there power rating of the 20V 4age engine series. I'm quite certain this rumour is because all Japanese engines are rated in PS (metric HP) and people forget to take that into consideration. I'm assuming a 20% drivetrain loss for RWD vehicles. Crank power crank PS crank HP RWHP RWKW Silvertop - 160 157.8 126.2 94 Blacktop - 168 165.7 132.5 98 Now not everyone makes 94kw with there ST 20V, but there are many people that do. If you're making 85kw atw on a dirty old 20V with unknown km's on it you're doing …

Looking for a place that sells lowering blocks specifically for Corolla rear leaf springs. Yes I have searched and can't seem to find anything but generic ones and I have no idea of what dimensions I need, I know I want to lower it 2-3" but thats all. Also I have heard of rear springs being reset etc ,once again best place for doing it or any suggestions at all cause I reckon the rears are a bit tired and its probably a better option than the lowering blocks. Any help much appreciated. Regards Keith

Hello everyone I'm very curious about building my 7k engine into a tough street engine in my 1970 ke11. I have currently been reading a discussion about using quad motorbike carbs on a 4k engine and I would like to use the same setup on my 7k. I'm also going to try and get this engine to rev a bit harder as I know they aren't as rev happy. I have a basic understanding with engines but I would also like to talk with other people to find out more on how to do so. I will also be getting a regrind on the cam, tracking down a light weight flywheel, porting and polishing the head, double valve springs, larger valves, quad carb setup, electronic dizzy, performance headers and…

Refer to last post Hi everyone, I'm trying to find gland nuts (the big nut that holds a shock inside a strut tube, I think that's what they're called) for AE86 struts, so far places like repco and supercheap haven't been able to get them in for me. Does anyone know of a shop that sells them or can order them in? If not the local wreckers has a T18 sitting in the yard and I was wondering if T18 gland nuts would fit in AE86 struts, or is the thread different? I don't think they would want to sell the gland nut separate so I may have to buy the complete strut, but if I remember correctly T18 struts are the same as or very similar to AE86 struts and thus would make a goo…

Before I say this I'll say I don't know exactly how a alternator works exactly, so forgive me if what I say sounds silly. I was just thinking about superchargers and how they need to be run either from a belt to the engine or with electric motors, so I thought, if you hooked up a separate alternator to the engine and then somehow connected the energy created from this to run the SC, would this allow it to run better/harder due to the alternator using less KW from the engine than if the SC was directly connected to it? Or would you need the alternator to power something which would run a belt to the SC which would probably mean there is no point unless the power gaine…

hey everyone, i am doing a 4age conversion and ive run into a problem, i went to bolt the gearbox up to the motor today, and half of the bolts don't seem to line up? its a adm t50 and a bigport 4age, with the dowels that are spose to go in the top of the bell housing, the dowel is on the passenger side top sticking out of the engine, whereas the whole for it in the bellhousing is in the drivers side top, and a couple of the bolts just don't seem to go anywhere? I'm confused, please help

picked up myself a ae82 with a 4agze conversion a month back, was going sweet until half way to work one day and it started the sound like a lawn mower. still runs but sounds like running on only 2-3 cylinders and fuel is leaking straight out of the flange between the headers and exhaust. couple of mates think its injector problem of maybe an ecu problem. just wanna know if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem could be? cheers Andrew.

Hello, I'm new to the site, just came across it while searching for how to fix my recently aquired 1983 starlet. I've used the search function and haven't been able to fix it yet. The previous owner hooked the battery up backwards, when purchased the car wouldn't do anything. I replaced a wire coming off the battery and it has power now and will turn over. I don't think the injectors are pulsing. The ecu is sending the pulse signal, I've replaced the solenoid resistor with one from a junkyard(don't know if it's good or not). Both wires going to the injectors are hot. I can pour gas in the intake and it will run. When I turn the engine over the injectors aren't pul…

i have heard a lot of talk latley about when it comes to modifying struts, people have been using corona/celica struts, shortening them and then using camry "short stroke" inserts, now, what is probably obvios, i want to be sure of, are camry inserts shorter that normal?, and if so how much shorter? as i have made custom struts before, but i have never used gas inserts in them as i was quoted too much to make gas one's, and didn't know camry ones are shorter. and after shortening the struts, what springs can be used? as the corona ones are way too wide in diameter to use?, i was thinking rt 118 springs as they are only about 3 1/2- 4 inchs in dia, and making my ow…

hey, I need some help here ( again, hehe ) I want to lower my ke70 about 80mm.. at least 40mm.. then I suspect I need new shocks and springs because they're never changed before i think and they feel pretty tired.. what should I buy? I have some spare coilovers for my ae86 with alot of different springs / shocks in my garage.. could I use them? do I need to convert my setup to make the ae86 coil-overs to fit? pictures: http://riiber.net/coilovers/ am I missing something to make them fit? ( it stands '400 200 hk6 - 49218 2580 1370' on the shocks mounted on the coil overs, and 300 200 44038 on the other two shocks, is that the ratio for (de-)compression? if it …

hey the other day when I changed my engine over I must have busted a heater hose somewhere between the firewall and the heater... since there all copper pipe from the fire wall to the heater and a real pain in the arse to get to if you have big hands is there an easy way to fix the massive puddle producing fountain and keep my heaters? oh I allready bypaced the heaters hoses from the engine to keep the water flowing through the engine and not onto my floor. so I guess I want to know if I can replace it with rubber heater hose or do I need new copper pipe?

Ok so yesterday and today I was out in Stanthorpe on my parents property (dirt track most of the way (ofcourse I would've done a silly thing or two to see what it had) on the way back the idle was fine, idled at about 800, got to my little brothers godmothers house to see how she was, had to move the car out of the road of another car, it was fine, had trouble as usual trying to keep it idle when first kicked over, but it was fine, got one the road again, still fine, on they way home it was idleing a bit low, went out again and it stalled, but was going down fear and just coming off of the clutch so it kicked over again, then it just stopped idleing pretty much and was ei…

Hey, I have a Ke25 with a 4K. I have recently found an oil leak after having none for the last 15-20 years (its been in the family since almost new), It seems to be coming from around the headgasket area! i have cleaned it up tonight and topped up the oil for further inspection 2 moro after a drive to see if i can see where it is coming from. I'm guessing its not the headgasket cos i'm not burning oil etc. I was wondering if anyone knows of somewhere they commonly leak in the 4K? i'm hoping to fix it myself (apprentice Mechanic for a holden dealer), mayb if big work time for upgrades! thanks!
