Hoping someone has a old Bilstein Catalog hanging around. Recent speedway junior sedan rule changes, now allow any type of shock as long as it fits and was designed for a passenger car. I have a pair of Bilstein p30 077 in the shed, I cannot find any info on these on the web, can someone please advise what they were designed for and are they a competition type shock ? Also as one of them is worn out where can I get them rebuilt in SE of Melb Thanks Andy

Hey, I've got a 4 door KE55 getting painted at the moment, it's pretty stock but i've just found a 2 door sedan with a 5K motor. the shell needs some work so i thought i'd chuck the 5K in the 4 Door for the time being. Anyway, my question is will a 4K head fit on a 5K bottom end or a 5K head on a 4K bottom end? or is there a way to make it fit, e.g. drilling out oil/water ports ect.? Might be a stupid idea but i thought the 4K head on the 5K bottom end would bump up the compression and go a bit harder and that putting the 5K head on the 4K bottom end would de-compress the motor ready for a turbo. Any advice will be appreciated. Cheers, Tom

  7. I recently did and engine swap but the clutch arm was loose and could be moved in and out with very little pressure like the thrust bearing wasn't hitting the pressure plate or something. The clutch cable was moving but not putting any pressure on the arm either. I thought I must have put something back together wrong so I pulled out the gearbox. The car is a KE70 I recently swapped the 4K for the 5K. It's got the original K50, a new pressure and clutch plate, which seem to be a different design but the same measurements as the original. Also a new thrust bearing and a spare flywheel I had. The thrust bearing seems to be properly in place and being moved by the arm, th…

Unfortunately I broke the grommet that holds the PCV stem in tappet cover. I bought a mini air filter and fitted in on instead but without the manifold vacuuming the crankcase fumes out oil pressure went to shit and smoke started coming out of every orifice of the engine. She's not broken... yet. It only starts after about 1 minute of running so there'll be no more running until I can track down that grommet. Does anyone know if its possible to purchase the grommets or does anyone have a few to spare? Cheers.

Ok first question How do you guys do the oil pressure upgrade I have read that you put a 2mm washer in the oil pump but where? Ok second thing I have a rattle and squeak over about 70ks coming from my diff only started in the last week seams to be coming from the front of the diff and there is a touch of play in the front bearing is it possible to replace it at home or just look for another diff? I need to get a new diff anyways as it's 4:30 and I want 4:11 but it's annoying on the way to work Thanks guys Miller

Ladies and Gents, I was about to go and jack up my Rolla and stick some jack stands under it, but then I read you're not suppose to put a car on 4 jack stands? :blinks: Any thoughts on this? I was planning to put the jack stands on each one of the jacking points and place the tyres under the car (also on uneven slopping dirt surface but that's besides the point...)

Hey guys, Just wondering if the 5K can go gasketless? As in just use silicon and no rubber gasket. I have gone through two sump gaskets already as they just deform and pop out of place when I tighten them up. They don't even sit on properly to begin with. The gasket is totally fine in all places but the corner underneath cylinder 1 pops out and leaks like a bastard. Cheers

Okay guys i've had a few people ask me how i went about ke20 disks on my ke10. So Yesterday and today when i converted my ke10 to ke70 brakes i took some photo's. I know there's already a write up in Faq but this is more a noob based guide. Okay, So before you go ahead and do the conversion, you have options. Which brakes do you want to use? Ke20: Smaller brakes, Older, 4x110 Stud pattern - Will fit your original 12" wheels Ke30: A little larger, 4x114.3 (Ke70 stud pattern) unsure of if 12's will fit, Doubtful Ke70: The same as ke55, Thicker than ke30 with Girlock brake calipers. 4x114.3 Here's a point though, The hubs are interchangable…

Gday Guys! I've got a sanding disk for my grinder because I'm trying to take pretty much all the paint off my Ke70, due to there being A) terrible paint and B) surface rust. What is the best method, that isn't sand blasting to get the paint off? I've began sanding by hand, got half way through the Bonnet and Boot Lid and was over that method, I've heard that lathering the car in Pain Stripper may work, but also heard about the sanding disks for grinders. What are peoples preferred methods? And with using the Grinding/Sanding Disks, is there a method that works best? Thanks guys, Ethan.

I want to get the wideband kit for the display so I need to re configure the unit but without the manual I have no idea how to do it. I think the kit is kc-5300 or something along the lines of that. 30. Has anyone on here, ever installed an oil cooler to their car? any car? If so, did you have an oil temp gauge before with any idea how much of an impact it made to oil temps? I cannot find any information on the net about just how much cooler engine oil is when a cooler is used. liek ball park even 1 or 2 degrees, 10 degrees, 20-50, 80?? Anyone know anything about the subject? I ask because id like to consider cooling my oil to keep the viscosity up there for this old engine. when me 4K is hot, it clicks n slaps n knocks at idle.. these old motors don't have much oil pressure at idle when the oil gets hot. So I'm pulling off my 5k head to do some stuff, however, I got all but 1 off. (because I'm smart and rounded it) After about an hour of working. I've been having a problem with my starter for too long and have no idea of what can be the issue. A lot of times it's impossible to start the car when hot. For example, if I go to a gas station I turn off the car, after refueling and paying I try to start it and a lot of times it just cranks reaaaaaally slowly or doesn't crank at all. If I let it rest for 10/15 minutes it cranks and starts like everything is fine. Cleaned all the terminals on the earth wires to the engine block (there's 2 or 3 of them), the starter was recently disassembled, cleaned on the inside and brushes were replaced. Can it be battery related? I've got no space to place a bigger one …

Righty-o. Brought diff center in to Diff Lapping today, Steve took one glance at it (wasn't even a big glance, if I had even blinked I would have thought he didn't even look) and the verdict is, in very technical terms: "mate, it's farked. Can't do anything with it, you need new gears" So yes, picked up a spare diff yesterday, don't know what ratio (forgot to check) but if it's the correct ratio I'm hoping to use those gears with my "LSD" center. Cost to swap gears at shop: $60. Spoke to someone today about swapping the gears, they recon it's a "piece of piss" job, and that as long as I'm using the same gears together (ie pinion and crown etc) and I torque it …

  40. Wandering around Wacol today, saw a car that looked a bit unusual. Looked under the bonnet, and hmm, strange! Couldn't recognise the engine, it was SOHC, with factory twin carbs (it even said "Dual Carburettor" or something on the rather strange looking airbox). Looked at the firewall, it said "3A-SU". Never seen one of these before... It looks like a Corolla GP or something. It's a hatch, but on the steering wheel it says "Tercel".
