Okay so i finally got my 18rgu today and throughout the whole day my dad has been complaining about how much i got it for. i bought it off a friend of dads, he was originaly asking for $1000 but dad hassled him down to $800. i was originaly thinking i was payin $1000 just for the engine plus the twin dellortos on it plus the extractors but when i went to pick it up the guy was like "what you see is what you get" and sitting with the engine was a radiator to suit the engine, an electronic fuel pump, and altinator, this fuel preasure regulator thing, and a msd motorcycle idnition thing. now my question is, was all of this worth $800 or not? and also, what does this msd ign…

Since i have problem with my 4th gear synchro today i decide to make a round to my local scrap ward! So i find 2 gearboxes! Both of them has hydraulic clutch , 5 gears , same 22 spline output shaft and is identically same...and ofcource has the toyota emblem! I decide to open one of them to check it from inside.....(first time) :jason: thats the result!! The big problem its that i don't know what code is and if it suitable form my engine(4age). From inside i can see that it is in a good condition...i think! Can anyone recognize it?

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade the shockers in the front of my ke55 and have been told that the size of the strut tube must be 51mm to fit the ones that i'm after. I've been told that these struts are found in ke70's but when i measured one it only measured up to 46mm. Can anyone tell me if there is a certain year or type that these struts came out in the ke70's, or if it was another type of strut out of another car altogether? Cheers.

Ask all your questions here that you are unsure of rather than starting a new thread everytime.... Everyone started here once so help the new kids out And FFS use correct spellings and grammers while you're typing the question.... It is quite annoying trying to desifer text talk or just plain lazyness, take your time and explain to the best of your knowledge what you are talking about and I'm sure people will be glad to help

Ok so the 4AGE I bought had no exhaust manifold and no bolts or nuts for it. So here is the dilemma I bought some high tensile M10 x 1.25 35mm (or 45mm can't remember of the top of my head I can check though). Will those do the job? The nuts thread on fine. But the bolts are quite firm. ei can barely be twisted by hand. I am shit scared of snapping them in the block! Is their something I can do to make it a bit easier/safer? Many thanks!

For something so mechanically simple, the SU carb has a complex system of operation. It seems very straightforward when you look at a cross-section of the carb and have a read over the internet, but I've found that it does not behave in such a simple way. Looking at the diagram, it is made from a body that contains the throttle plate, with a 'top hat' screwed on top of it. That encloses a cup-shaped hollow, floating piston that holds a needle in the fuel jet screwed into the bottom of the body. The little ramp in the body where the jet sits forms a low pressure area behind it and air flow over the venturi ramp sucks the floating piston upwards by forming a vacuum …

Thought I'd write a quick *cough* article on headlight upgrades for most older cars, seeing since the stock lights are pretty poor and are definately worthy of an upgrade by now. There are some things to understand and take note of. Will add pics at some point as I find them... Most older cars will have what is known as a sealed beam headlight which is basically a huge one piece bulb with a dual filament inside for high and low beam and its a throw away item. Most of them are cheap as such and have poor performance and deteriorate over time. All you do is replace the whole unit when it gets old or stops working. There are limited performance versions of sealed…

Hey guys, 5k started to make a clack clack clack sound about 5 mins before I got home. The sound is similar to a tappet being out of adjustment but much louder. During driving there was no power loss or decreased driveablility. Initially I thought maybe a bent pushrod had bent but after taking the rocker cover off I see that the pushrods are all straight and are not fouling against anything. What do you guys think this could be? One of the hydro lifers are shot or something worse???? I have a 4k sitting in the shed so I do have a spare motor in case this is a terminal problem. cheers

hey guys as some of you may know i bought a mx83 cressida for my partner to get around in. i hadnt really taken much notice but it seems to be using a bit more water than usual, and the reservoir fills up to the top.......and doesnt go back into the radiator when it cools. I'm pretty sure it isnt a blown head gasket, which was my first thought, since the car still runs and drives as well as the day i bought it. are there any other reasons why this could be happening? its a 7m-ge too. any help would be great. cheers brendan

hey guys, just putting my ae82 corolla back together after having the drivetrain out of it for over a year. i have pretty much all of it sorted out, except for a few little things, i was hoping someone might be able to help me out? firstly, theres a sensor/switch at the front left corner of the auto. has a small loom with blue plug and 2 pins. anyone know what it does, where it goes, or what signal is supposed to be sent to/from it? the car was originally manual and i think it may not have ever been connected, as the auto has never shifted properly. secondly, theres a breather off the auto dipstick tube. anyone know where the end of this is supposed to go? …

Hi guys, Recently I have Fitted a supercharger to my EFI 5k. The supercharger is an AMR500 with a 70mm charger pulley and a 100mm crank pulley. My first question is about the calculator used in the FAQ/WIKI section relating to the calculation of boost. Has anyone used the calculation and had a correct answer from it? From my initial calculations the answer came out to be a negative boost number because my pulley ratio is too low according to the calculator. From memory my calculation was -0.9psi. So for shits and giggles I decided to whack it on anyway to get the ball rolling on the project and then find a bigger pulley later. To my surprise the supercharger a…

Hi guys, As anyone with an original 4k EFI manifold would know, the throttle body is tiny. So tiny in fact that you can not buy any adaptors for CAI tubing. Because of my twin charging ambitions I can not reliably seal the throttle body thus boost would escape. So what I am looking at doing is upgrading to a 2" throttle body as this is a standard size for piping and intercoolers. The question is what throttle body should I look for? I want to find something that I could easily modify to fit the standard KE55 throttle cable and has a resistive type TPS. I know it's not something that everyone does but if anyone has done something similar I would like to know. …

Has anybody modified a timing cover so that the camshaft timing can be adjusted (advance/retard) without taking the whole timing cover off? Here are some photos that I found on the net: K engine: T engine: The face of the timing cover is slightly curved, so bolting a plate of aluminium might have issues with oil leaks. From the photos there is a raised edge between the timing cover and the plate. Not sure if it is welded or bolted from the inside of the cover. The raised bit can have a groove so that an o-ring can fit in. Probably the raised edge is so the plate bolts don't stick though to the inside of the timing cover, and hittin…

I rebuilt my carb. After getting it all together I noticed that the bowl wasn't filling with gasoline. If I manually fill the bowl the car runs fine, but it wont fill itself. I am almost certain that the twists that were needed to take the fuel solenoid off were just enough to kill the ancient wiring soldered on the back. Any other thoughts?

Hey, i've taken the inlet manifold off my smallport 4age to do a bit of work to it, anyway, i noticed that the ports on the manifold are quite noticeably smaller then the ones on the head...... whats the go here then? Surely they didn't come standard like this? I'm thinking of porting out the manifold to match the head, but il ask here first just in case. Am i maybe missing something? Is there a plate thats ment to be bolted between the manifold and the head? Piccy attached so you know what I'm going on about, the dark oval visible on the flange is where the inlet port has been bolted to, and you can see the smaller inlet from the manifold sitting 2mm or so inside it…

ive got a recaro bucket seat to install into my ke70, wondering if anyone else has done a similar install into a ke70? how did you go about a seat rail? from what ive found AE86 seat rails are slightly to wide, by about 20mm. if someone has done a bucket seat into a ke70 please provide some info for me, as i want to know the easiest way to go about it. going with a universal rail will be a bit gay but will do it if required. just wondering if anyone has modded the AE86 seat rail? info on this would be really great. Cheers

My daughter's AE82 5speed has a noisy speedo and it fluctuates a lot. It has only occurred since it got cold. I assume the 1986 speedo cable needs greasing. The problem is I found it damn hard to undo the knurled nut behind the speedo as the space is tight. #@!!*** Can I undo speedo at gearbox and remove the inner from that end? -AND successfully feed it back into the speedo head.? I want some advice from someone who has done it - before spending ages upside down and perhaps breaking something? Ta, Brett

Can anyone help me with locating the regulator on my ae92 ("4wd" wagon) sorry if this is a stupid post but I'm unsure where the regulator is and want to find it to see if the brushes are making contact properly as my batter light is on constantly and idles low and lights dim. Have replaced the battery with a new Toyota approved one and still the same problem and I'd prefer to check the regulator first before replacing the alternator. Sorry again if I've posted this in the place

Hi, this is my first post...ever. I wanted to see if anybody can help, and I really appreciate it if you can. This is going to be a long story, but I'll try to cut it down. I have a 1976 Corolla 2TC SR5 liftback. My dad was the original owner and it only has 75k on it, so it really means a lot to me to get this car running again. About a year ago, I came up to a stop and the car died. It wouldn't hold an idle. Anything below about 2500 rpms and it felt like it was out of time. Anything above and it ran perfect. I checked my idle screw and it was fine. then I checked and replaced all of the vacuum lines. It still didn't fix it. I couldn't really tryto check …

My toyota is a 1976 with an auto transmission. It seems to only have 3 usable gears. I am not sure if there is a 4th or not. I am having carb / possibly vaccume issues that I am still sorting out, but I was wondering if that would relate to the transmission at all. Here are some pics that might have some info: specs of car: Can you spot any issues? You can see the gear selector has L, 2, and 3. Is this what the 4 speed autos have? or is this a "toyotaglide" 2 speed?
