hey people, just thought I would post up my 3 month old ke70 that I bought from a dodgy apprentice mechanic. eg. Cut au falcon springs (that fell out when we lifted the car up), welded stock borgwarner diff, blown head gasket, straight pipe to split sh*t drift tip yeeeee, instrument cluster wasn't working/broken, no locknut key, interior ripped to sh*t/missing a lot, wrong tyres to go with rims?!?!, callipers rattling, steering rack/rack boots destroyed, wheel bearings all shot and to finish it all off lots of body work.........................lucky we like challenges right.

Hi. This is my 1982 Toyota Corolla ke70. I have had it for almost one year or so now, and i'm thinking about getting some more power out of it. I have not made some super plans for it quite yet, but hopefully I it is ready for "Gatebil Våler" 2015. "Gatebil" is a trackday/track event in Norway (where I come from) Here is a pic of how the car looks like today, it is preshly painted in it's orginal colour. It also have some lowering springs. So this weekend I started with the raer axle. I got a Volvo 240 axle for free from a buddy of mine, and it fits quite perfect. It is alot of work, but i think it is worth it, because i'm planning t…

Hey guys I've just bought a pretty straight stock 82 ke70 xx. Apart from the general fixing up of the bog and rust throughout the car I was thinking of a few little mods to do on not the biggest budget. After all the body work is finished I'd probably be respraying it at home after getting a little more experienced in painting. I'd also be aiming for some wider wheels and was looking at 15x8+0, some opinions on that would be great. Lastly the stock 4k is a little bit on the slow side, some opinions on whether the 4k is actually worth the work or something like a 4age would be more appropriate. As far as I know there is an exemption available for P plates in queenslan…

Hello everyone, I introduce myself Valentin; I am currently in France and I just bought a Toyota KE70 LiftBack (engine 1.3) ... not having the vehicle registration card (car of my great grandfather ... who is no longer The ...) I can not drive on open road with ... so I oriented on a complete refresh of the KE70 track version ... But I have some question that I trot, if I want to put a 4AGE In the Liftback, what cardan to put? Should I use only the steering system of the AE86? Or make a mix KE / AE? In any case it is not easy at all in France to find a French site on the KE70 .. ditto for parts sale site ... I do not find any cardan "new" or so that Are not specific to th…

After a long search for a Japanese "oldtimer" I got this last Thursday. It's a 1982 Toyota Corolla KE70 2 door wagon in more or less original state. Engine is 4K - 1.3l, carburettor, 8-valve OHV with maybe 55 hp. It was left standing outside a garage for three years so it's in quite a rough condition, but it fired right up! Plans are complete overhaul and maybe 4AGE blacktop swap sometime in the future. I'll have to take a look at starter later today because it doesn't work. I've put a new battery in, it takes some juice (lights on the cluster dim a bit when trying to start) but nothing happens. _MG_5952 by GeorgeCZ, on Flickr _MG_5949 by GeorgeCZ, on …

More than one year ago, I've bought a Ke70 1980 the one with quadlights. I have in mind a complete factory restoration, a clean look with maybe some lowering and small details as an extra. Nothing special. Where I live, in Malta Europe, it's very hard to find parts and stuff. Infact I have struggled a lot to find parts I have today. One things I'm looking for at the moment and can't really find is the chrome trims. The ones that are on each of the four doors at the bottom of the window and also at the back of the rear doors, the same trims that the '82 GL models/versions used to come out with. Can anyone help me on this? I really appreciate your furthe…

Hello all, I've been lurking around these forums on and off for some time so I thought i would post my KE. Bought it last year for $300 and told the head could not be removed after crapping the head gasket (lies!). I've worked on it sparingly since (uni and work is getting in the way nicely) and have just dumped a few hundred on a press, bushings and ball joints. Plan is to have a solid platform for a better engine in a few years when I am not so broke. I bought an OK replacement engine for cheap so the 4k stays, but is going to get a single weber and extractors. Never really done this sort of work to a car before, last car I had I only did oil changes etc. …

Hi all thought I would start a bit of a thread here with my rolla. I bought the rolla about 5 years ago now and had been driving as a daily until i had a work car so started to do some work on her. I pulled the motor out and did a rebuild myself (lots of learning). Tried various combinations of carbs from stock to weber also tried twin SU's worked great but my cam was to lumpy so did not work so well at idle. Anyway moved to Sydney and the car stayed here in QLD and unfortunately had to be stored outside and very quickly grew rust and was not quite the same. However I have now moved back to QLD and have decided to get it back on the road and make a project out of it…

Hi guys, I'm new here so I thought I would show you my new project. It's an 84 ke70 wagon (high top) I purchased it for $475 off a young lad who only owned it for a mounth and brought it off an elderly gentleman who turns out to be the original owner and to my supprise it's never left the town I live in.It was purchased new in 84 at nambucca heads toyota which is now a nersery and was driven around this town by the elderly gentleman up until augaust 2012.It has a bit off rust but the body is really straight and only has 143000 klms on the clock also has the blue interior (I'm not a fan of the brown one).So here are a few pics of the old girl.future plans atm are some watan…

So October last year I decided to look for a RWD car to take on khanacross/rallysprint days. I have never raced a car offroad before, so I wanted something light and durable, and didn't care too much about the power. Came across a 83 KE70 that had been used in some motorkhanas, bit rough, but cheap like I wanted. Took it home and over the next month I cut out some rust and prepped and painted the car. (Very cheaply and not all that great looking) End of November was it's first outing at a local dirt track for their last Khanacross of the year. I dual entered it with a young apprentice, Tommy, from work who has been paddock bashing since he was 9 y/o. The ca…

Hey everyone, I've been lurking for sometime and finally decided to make an account now that I actually own a KE70. I bought this wonderful poo brown slant front off a friend for $500. It's not pretty, nor does it have an engine or much else going for it but I'm going to get it running and then daily drive it. Plans are to build it into a decent little 4K for now. Originally I had planned for a 7K but at the moment I'm going to modify the 4K. This is the journey so far; Got it, got a set of wheels for it, pulled some engines apart and decided to replace whatever I think I should to make one decent runner out of a few, new clutch and new head. I'll update the thread wh…

Hey All Picked up a stock as a rock AE71 csx in silver (little bit of surface rust which I am sanding back and killing slowly) she has 200k on the clock and is stupid clean apart from a few scrapes. Got it to teach my GF to drive in and for something to tinker on. Had a KE70 in my late teens that was full of rust (only cost me a 12pack of beer though haha) Haven't had a 4AC since my 88 corolla hatchback (ae92) think you call them seca's over here. Just getting it ready for a rwc atm Things to do are replace a cracked steering boot and the drivers seatbelt (new boots on the way and I have a spare belt, will send the orginal one to be refurbished) Ha…

Haven't had a project car in while, a friend of mine picked this up 18months ago and went home shortly after buying it (we're Irish), it's been sat in another friend's yard since collecting dust so I gave him a phone call and asked how much he wanted for it and he said if I can have it in exchange for giving him a couch to crash on when he comes back over for a holiday! So happy days, a free Ke70! It's 1982, the paints well faded but overall its in decent nick for its age, counted 7 small patches off rust on it nothing to crazy. Interior is very good, and panels are all straight enough, just let down by how faded the paint is. It's driv…

Hey guys I’m Finally starting on my project, I’ve had this Rolla for about 4 years, I drove it for about 2 years it started to show signs of rust, I was about to start cutting the rust out but had to move house and parked it at my parents place and bought a motorbike. So it sat there for 2 years and now I have a place with a small shed so I have brought it home to start fixing her.

Well,3rd time around, some may have seen I advertised a KE70 for a bloke in another area, well,I ended up buying it from him myself,$200. Think I paid too much really as it has 210,000k's,auto,a/c,interior is clean, boot, petrol flap and wheel arches are all rusted as per usual for a KE70 BUT it had 3 doors missing, boot lid missing, bonnet missing, damaged guard drivers side and no grill. Well,Ive got into it over the last 2 days and cleaned it up pretty well,a/c switch is missing but everything else seems ok at present. Raided the car at pick a part kilsyth and got all the panels I needed so that added $300 to the purchase price, they are all fitted up now but still missing …

Hi people, so I been working on my little corolla for a while now and thought I would make a thread about my build process. It's a 1984 AE71, I brought the car for $400 of an old hippie lady lol. Anyway when I got the car it had a stuffed 4a in it and had oil all over the engine bay god now's what happend to the poor old girl but that didn't bother me as I had a ke70 wagon with a clean dark blue interior and only 143000km on the clock, so I decided to scrap the wagon and go for the sedan (woohoo) I have wanted one of these since I was 13.When I got it home I pulled the dash out and all the pinchweld, platic trim and so on and replaced it with the dark blu…
