Hello all. Just a couple of questions. Currently fiddling with AE71/4AGE/T50 combo. The conversion is done, and running well. Car is club car never to be registered and runs on dirt. My problem is understeer. I have changed front springs to 175lb as per rally forums and chatting to well known suspension mob in Melbourne and rears have one coil removed (for now with king springs on order) Car has slightly raised front ride height for that "nose up" rally attitude and with one coil removed slightly lowered rear (still noticeably softer than front). Shocks are in working order and I have standard front and rear sway bars. I have run as sweep for local rally sprint on rally t…

anybody here, particularly those of u with a 4age have this coil. its listed by fuelmiser as being for the AE82 4AGE, but I'm running it on a 4k with internal ignitor. I was hoping someone could tell me what their coil resistance is between the high tension port and the positive terminal. This is known as the secondary coil resistance. Mine is reading only 6k ohms but i believe the std 4Age coils are up at a minimum of 11k ohms, so imagine this replacent should be similar :/ but its not. the primary windings specs match just fine at 0.6 ohms. however the 4k handbook (ke70) shows the stock dizzy specs as follows for the 4k with igniter - 10-15k ohms…

okay, So i have a 4k out of ke70 down the back that i was thinking of rebuilding for just a reliable daily motor that can reach the speed limit in under 20 minutes :P :D but when i pulled it apart it was erhhh ahh knackered. :( So i've been all the threads about 'K' motors on here about turbo this supercharged that but i couldnt find what i was after. What I'm asking is which of the 'K' motors would be bet suited for a daily? I.e fuel consumption, parts, reliabilty and with a bit of power when needed.. :( I have the ability to get either of the motors but I'm unsure.. :hmm: btw: mods would just be 5 speed box, extractors, lightened fly…

Has anyone used a Prozone inline fuel modifier. If so, what results have you got from them. I've read the ProZone websites in the UK & OZ, and some of the testimonials are pretty impressive. I was talking to a guy the other day, who showed me one fitted to his early Falcon coupe. He has had it on for some time & was glowing it his praise of it. But then he worked for Repco, the Australian agent. The Prozones sold here in this part of the world are sold right here in Queensland. Would love to here others comments on this product. Here is the link for those that don't know of the product. ProZone Link ProZone Australia :S

I finally got around to trying to see if all was well on my swap and now the motor wont spin over. I know there is probably more info that anyone willing to shed light may need but here's what I can think of. k to 3k swap 3k was rebuilt about 3000 miles ago. had to swap flywheel and clutch pressure plate from k as the bolts didn't line up with that of the 3k ( I think, it's been a few weeks) I remember swapping them, can't remember exactly why I had to. Bolted up the t4 trans (factory 4spd ke15 tranny) I bumped the starter with the coil wire off, no exhaust and didn't want to run straight off of the manifold. starter engaged but didn't want to turn. removed …

Hey guys, I recently checked my 3K for oil and found no oil cap I don't know how long it has not had one, is this a big issue? Not that much oil has came out of it. Also the stupid oil caps are only push down, hence why it probably came off, I was just wondering can you buy the Toyota oil caps anymore? Or do I have to get aftermarket? Brad

I bolted on Haikals Nikki carb onto the wagon today, the carb is either off a Mazda 808 or a 1600, not sure. Anyway, everything bolted up alright, I even found a random bracket lying around in my pile of junk that I could use as a throttle cable bracket, the only cable that isn't really ideal is the choke, but it wasn't before anyway. The end of the sheath isn't clamped down, and I can't think of anyway to clamp it down. Anyway, after having some dramas trying to set the floats etc, everything seems to be good. Don't have an air filter yet (Autobarn sold me the wrong filter and then closed before I could return it, GAH), so put a piece of chux over the top and went…

Hi, As you know I am currently working to get a KE15 on the road with a rebuilt 5K in it. Now this motor I bought rebuilt. Put in KE30 ran it pulled it out put it in the KE15. Now I am using a 0.8KW KE70 starter with more up right solenoid. I run pace maker extractors for a KE1X and twin carby KE15 intake with rebuilt carbies. Now initially I was cranking and dad said it has no spark. Dad couldn't see the spark.LOL But before I found this out I changed the dizzy, plugs, leads, did a bit of a tidy on the electrical wires, checked timing, made sure it was firing on the compression BANG stroke so it wouldn't back fire through carby etc. Went to crank it again…

I have installed some XT130 Twin Pots in my KE They seemed to bleed OK, and was firm prior to driving, but now very soft and many pushes needed to get pressure up. 1. Have I done a piss poor effort of bleeding them? 2. Perhaps I need a better/bigger master? Thoughts and comments please?

hey guys, been reading on here a little bit and I'm just after a hopefully quick response from a knowledgable member, basically my braking system on my RT40 needs an overhaul, components are becoming fairly non-existant and I'm thinking i might be able to get some replacement items off a newer model corolla (something around late 70's), I'm going to check a wrecker tonight but a heads up would be nice as to how interchangable are the rear drums and also an option to fit front discs with no booster cheers in advance chris

Gidday guys, I'm having ongoing problems with my little 4k kp bugeye. To save a long story... I'll try generalise this as much as i can. I've been battling pinging issues and now hard starting(also won't idle on its own) So far I've replaced coil, spark plugs(twice) leads, rebuilt the carb, replaced manifold gasket with a one piece(slight vacuum leak from coby headers) I got the motor to run without pinging after i ripped the dizzy out and shifted it around. but the timing was way too advanced so i pulled it out again to restart the process. Which made it worse, it won't idle on its own and the pinging is back. I'm certain I've lined up the…

Has anyone ever had to replace one of these? I've been told that AE86 uni joints are non-serviceable items, so the entire yoke etc has to be replaced, or the old uni machined out (both of which = lots of money)? I've got a strange vibration in the car since the incident that I'm still trying to pin point, it's speed related, so I'm guessing it'll be wheels, diff, tailshaft, or something in between. I've gotten the wheels rebalanced, so that *shouldn't* be it. I keep having nightmares of my tailshaft letting go, and considering I don't have a tailshaft loop that could get quite unpleasant quite quickly. I'm going to replace all the tailshaft bolts just for peace of…

Hi all, Wondering if you can help my wife, she is the proud owner of an old VP 3.8L wagon, and tonight driving home all of the electricals failed, starting with the dash dimming out, headlights dying and dash gauges reading lower than they should, then the car sputtered for a second and died. The car starts but stalls shortly afterwards. Any suggestions?? Thanks,

Hi All, Today I picked up a working 5 speed gear box out of a KE70 for $50 (has the rest of a car hanging off it but..lol) I want to install this into my KE30 that currently runs a 3K and a 4 speed box. So my main question is to fit it ill I need to remove the engine or can it go in from under neath? Also I know I have to cut the shifter hole back more but will this mean I need a shorter tail shaft? Also will this gear box bolt up to a 3K motor no problem or is the input shaft etc different? Thanks Cameron P.S. once I got the box out the car the car will be for sale and my parents said it can sit in the yard for 2 weeks so if anyone near ipswich wants…

Hey guys, it's Sunday morning, 9:45am and I'm in a spot of bother. Background: Best mate ! (wife) blew the head gasket in my KE55 coupe during the week. Thermostat jammed closed (Oh I hate those troublesome things) and she didn't notice the temperature guage climb into red area. (have you ever met a girl that drives & looks at the guages at the same time ) Picked me up from doctors & said the brake are making a funny smell. Lift bonnet. Smoke coming out between head & block. Ohhhh ! Tow car home, lock wife in broom cupboard as punishment, & remove head yesterday. Strip down & clean & get ready to take off the local engine recond.…

My corolla is low as it is, but not that low, so i would like to be able to get it to sit just right...... :y: The rear leafs arent really a problem, because i know a guy who can re - set them and add an extra leaf, so that doesnt worry me.... What concerns me is the front springs. I have searched through old topics and someone mentioned that if you use eb ford falcon front springs and cut them down it should be fine. I'm not too sure whether you would have any problem with wheel alignment or would you have to chenge the front shocks or strut tower....??? :P Thanks...

well as the story goes, ive got a ke30, wanted to put my 4G63 VR4 motor in it but found out it would be more hassle than it was worth so decided to go down the k engined route. ok now basically atm ive got a ke30 sitting at home with a 3k i'll rip out and ive since been collecting parts to build my hot k motor. So far at home ive got a set of 4AGE pistons (81mm diameter, 18mm grudgin pin diameter), two DCOE sidedraught 40 webers and 4k Main bearings (which I'm assuming fit a 5k crank but if they don't i'll cry!) firstly, should i go 5 or 7k? i know they share the same bore and its the stroke that makes them different capacity wise, but the engines, although si…

Well my little 4k seems to not be liking me at the moment and has decided it wants to start getting hot argghhhh. anyway so far i have started the process of elimination to the find out if the final outcome is a blown head gasket. this is how far i have got, including reading as many threads as i could What it seems to be doing is heating the water enough to build up pressure and almost fill the overflow bottle everytime i drive it. my daily drive is 45km and for the most part 100km/h so i would have imagined that if it has a blown head it would be getting hot along way before that. now the temp needle itself is sitting a bit above halfway (alot hotter the i ever reme…

hay guys , been thinking about the rear end suspention on my 55 and what I'm going to end up doing with it, any one got any good set ups for street driving that they like??? to be honest when i took the car off the road ,i had been driving around for over 3 years with a fliped leaf in the spring pack, and never had any problems, also had gas shocks and the stock rear sway bar which looks like its match stick thin, now since i have to go thru engineers at some point in time ,sorta have to do it properly ,and don't think flipped leafs will cut the mustard, even tho i never had a problem with them and i would put them back in like that ,but vic rules are off there h…

so we don't clog up someone elses thread is this achievable, before you laugh have a think and come up with a thought on how to make this possible, My thoughts, TO4Z garrett mechanical fuel injection nitro methane for fuel 35% fuel to air mixture 18/1 compression ratio cams, valves, springs, ports, pistons, rods, crank, to allow for about 20000rpm i think you would need about 350kw flywheel to achieve this possible or not?

Sooo I just paid $250 for my first Toyota - an 82 Liteace "WAGON" van. 4k, 4 spd column. And I love it! I want to go lower with white walls (spray can home job most likely) so it's a nice little cruiser. After I've fixed the gobbling up the water and overheating issue. Now I've found lowering blocks on eBay in 2 - 2.5in which seems the way to go for the back, but I don't know what to do about the front. Does anyone know if there are any interchangeable springs with the Liteace? From any AE or KE? Because then I can get the King Super Lows off eBay, and maybe cut them to match the lowering of the rear. Cutting the stock springs will be a last resort.. …

But in the dry it just wont slide lol.. Its got a Locker and all.. But it just doesn't kick out no matter what.. I don't know the greatest amount about these cars.. But ive been getting suggestions from people about more power.. 4ac.. 4Age.. Etc.. But as i said i don't know a hole lot about putting them in, i know there is alot of guides out there..
