Hey Rollaclub! This is my first go at building a track car, it's an auto KE70 that I bought from redae71(thanks Luke!). I plan to do the standard 4AGE swap, get the car reasonably light, and sort out some decent suspension. Oh and quadlights! So I got the car about a week ago and drove it home on an unregistered vehicle permit. It seemed to drive nicely, though the right hand upper spring seat was fouling on the adjustable camber plates due to too much camber, and causing the spring to twist on the strut when I turned. But other than that it was fine. When I got the car(minus the wheels): What I'm going to put in it: What I'm going to do it wi…

Hi all thought I would start a bit of a thread here with my rolla. I bought the rolla about 5 years ago now and had been driving as a daily until i had a work car so started to do some work on her. I pulled the motor out and did a rebuild myself (lots of learning). Tried various combinations of carbs from stock to weber also tried twin SU's worked great but my cam was to lumpy so did not work so well at idle. Anyway moved to Sydney and the car stayed here in QLD and unfortunately had to be stored outside and very quickly grew rust and was not quite the same. However I have now moved back to QLD and have decided to get it back on the road and make a project out of it…

Hey guys I've just bought a pretty straight stock 82 ke70 xx. Apart from the general fixing up of the bog and rust throughout the car I was thinking of a few little mods to do on not the biggest budget. After all the body work is finished I'd probably be respraying it at home after getting a little more experienced in painting. I'd also be aiming for some wider wheels and was looking at 15x8+0, some opinions on that would be great. Lastly the stock 4k is a little bit on the slow side, some opinions on whether the 4k is actually worth the work or something like a 4age would be more appropriate. As far as I know there is an exemption available for P plates in queenslan…

Hey all, new to all this build thread business but here goes. I'm Ollie from ye olde Hobart, currently 19 and slowly working away at this project of mine. It's an '84 ke70 wagon that I picked up close to two years ago now, paid $2150 which might have been a tad too much due to the rust but ahh well. This is how it sat as I got it Pretty much as soon as i got it home I tore it apart to inspect the rust. Wasn't too happy with what I found.. This was the worst of it as well as the usual in the guards, gutters and a few other stray spots. Unfortunately I had to do a quick fix as my brother sold his car and needed mine. So that involved sanding back, rust treating and a…

More than one year ago, I've bought a Ke70 1980 the one with quadlights. I have in mind a complete factory restoration, a clean look with maybe some lowering and small details as an extra. Nothing special. Where I live, in Malta Europe, it's very hard to find parts and stuff. Infact I have struggled a lot to find parts I have today. One things I'm looking for at the moment and can't really find is the chrome trims. The ones that are on each of the four doors at the bottom of the window and also at the back of the rear doors, the same trims that the '82 GL models/versions used to come out with. Can anyone help me on this? I really appreciate your furthe…

Hi people, so I been working on my little corolla for a while now and thought I would make a thread about my build process. It's a 1984 AE71, I brought the car for $400 of an old hippie lady lol. Anyway when I got the car it had a stuffed 4a in it and had oil all over the engine bay god now's what happend to the poor old girl but that didn't bother me as I had a ke70 wagon with a clean dark blue interior and only 143000km on the clock, so I decided to scrap the wagon and go for the sedan (woohoo) I have wanted one of these since I was 13.When I got it home I pulled the dash out and all the pinchweld, platic trim and so on and replaced it with the dark blu…

Hello all, I've been lurking around these forums on and off for some time so I thought i would post my KE. Bought it last year for $300 and told the head could not be removed after crapping the head gasket (lies!). I've worked on it sparingly since (uni and work is getting in the way nicely) and have just dumped a few hundred on a press, bushings and ball joints. Plan is to have a solid platform for a better engine in a few years when I am not so broke. I bought an OK replacement engine for cheap so the 4k stays, but is going to get a single weber and extractors. Never really done this sort of work to a car before, last car I had I only did oil changes etc. …

Back in December 2014 I bought and learn't to drive in my first car, a 1984 Toyota Corolla KE70 running project. At the time I bought it previous owners had done a few things to it, stuff that I know of were Car was just in Primer, Weber Carby, King Springs, Striped alot of the interior out and what was left in was sprayed black, Head unit with no speakers, Window tint and probably a few more things. I have alot of plans for this car but for now it is my daily until I can get some money. As a 17 year old teenager I don't earn alot of money for mods... The money that I do earn is enough to keep the car filled up with petrol each week. But I would like to have it runni…

Hi. This is my 1982 Toyota Corolla ke70. I have had it for almost one year or so now, and i'm thinking about getting some more power out of it. I have not made some super plans for it quite yet, but hopefully I it is ready for "Gatebil Våler" 2015. "Gatebil" is a trackday/track event in Norway (where I come from) Here is a pic of how the car looks like today, it is preshly painted in it's orginal colour. It also have some lowering springs. So this weekend I started with the raer axle. I got a Volvo 240 axle for free from a buddy of mine, and it fits quite perfect. It is alot of work, but i think it is worth it, because i'm planning t…

Hello All, My name is Mitch, I'm 22 a car salesman and qualified boilermaker. Ive owned a total of 6 ke70/ae71's. this will be my first conversion and most work will be completed by myself and a few of my mates(mechanics, auto elecs and fabby's) As you can tell by the heading I'm about to start the long process of building a 1uzfe powered KE70. the 1984 KE70 corolla S with aircon, was purchased for $1,000.00 of an elderly women who went blind and couldnt drive. She purchased it from Shepparton Toyota. where I'm currently employed as a salesman. Hello everyone, new to this site, old to Corolla's Where should I begin....... I guess it all started about six years ago; I was thinking about which way I wanted to go with my TE72 project. I kept dreaming of a 4A-GE swap (just like everyone else). Suddenly, like lighting striking my brain, it came to me! I’ll swap in a 5M-GE from an early 80’s Supra. I started doing some research to make sure it was possible to stick the inline 6 under the hood. I managed to find two blurry photos of 7M-GTE’s in TE72’s. That was more than enough proof for me. First I needed to find a running supra to swap the parts from. I searched and searched, but was always disappointed, b…

Just sold my Evo 6 and have moved on to an AE71 wagon (who does that, honestly?), but yeah, the Evo just wasn't me. Well,3rd time around, some may have seen I advertised a KE70 for a bloke in another area, well,I ended up buying it from him myself,$200. Think I paid too much really as it has 210,000k's,auto,a/c,interior is clean, boot, petrol flap and wheel arches are all rusted as per usual for a KE70 BUT it had 3 doors missing, boot lid missing, bonnet missing, damaged guard drivers side and no grill. Well,Ive got into it over the last 2 days and cleaned it up pretty well,a/c switch is missing but everything else seems ok at present. Raided the car at pick a part kilsyth and got all the panels I needed so that added $300 to the purchase price, they are all fitted up now but still missing …

I've been meaning to bang up a thread for a while. I purchased my Panno a few months ago while I was living in Melbourne, at first I wasn't to keen on converting from my usual sedans to a Panelvan, but now I wouldn't have it any other way. I have just completed the drive to relocate back to the gold coast so I can now start playing around with it. She's extremely straight with only two or three rusts spots 1/2 the size of a five cent piece. It's completely unmolested with 128000 on the clock from factory. The only few things that I have done are fit MA61 Supra wheels with fresh rubber and MA60(?) Supra seats, and a simple stereo install. Plans Engi…
